To think this is really romantic

I just saw this story pop up on my suggestions, a rather nice story from the DF in my opinion. People may obviously have their complaints but I think this is such a romantic thing to do. Yes it was stupid and reckless but so many of us do stupid things for love. Blush Grin

I can only imagine how hard the pandemic has been for couples who are live far from each other - couple? They met in September when he was working there for 4 weeks, they barely know each other! I give it about 3 months when he gets out of prison!

SpiderGwen · 18/12/2020 15:20

Coast Guard risked their lives in dangerous conditions looking for this arsehole.

What a pathetic irresponsible bellend. I hope his knackers fall off to prevent him reproducing any more than he already has. He's hardly a credit to the gene pool. His ex must be glad to be rid of him.

user1471565182 · 18/12/2020 15:27

Yep how easily they could have been dragging his bloated corpse out of the freezing water. He had about a 10% chance of making this. How romantic would that have been?

YankeeDad · 18/12/2020 15:49

It's romantic. And also stupid. And also callous to everyone else. Some actions can be all three at the same time. Sometimes the more stupid and reckless a gesture is, the more romantic that makes it. Humans are weird that way.

His new woman can feel even more loved by him for knowing that he not only crossed the Irish sea for her, but he also went to jail for her. I hope he stays there long enough, and experiences enough discomfort, and has enough chances to think about possible death and about his kids, that next time he will decide to be just a wee bit less romantic...

unmarkedbythat · 18/12/2020 15:50

Romantic maybe but I would have been totally unimpressed.

Pass the bucket!

Yamayo · 18/12/2020 16:04

This reminds me of the story of the guy who drowned while proposing to his girlfriend.
Idiot.

“He put his life at risk”. To me that makes it even more romantic knowing he would put his life on the line to see her.

Someone he’s met once?! And doing so he nearly
put other lives at risks if he’d needed rescuing, not to mention putting her life and that of the other people in the community if he had had Covid. That’s not romantic, that’s arsehole behaviour of the highest order.

Imagine if he had died on that crossing (which frankly is a miracle he didn’t), that’s two kids with no dad. For what. A shag and a booze up.
That’s utterly shameful.

PhatPhanny · 18/12/2020 16:10

Utterly moronic

knittingaddict · 18/12/2020 16:18

@AngusThermopyle

There was a thread on this the other day. The op said he should have at least taken some milk tray 😂
Ah, that's what the Milk Tray thread was about.
BashfulClam · 18/12/2020 16:43

He broke covid travel laws in Scotland as well driving from Irvine to fucking Dumfries! Here in north Ayrshire(where Irvine is) I can’t even see my mum at Christmas but that fucking tube can do that!

YankeeDad · 18/12/2020 16:51

@BashfulClam that is a good point.

So maybe the Scottish authorities can help him to enhance his romantic credentials by bringing him back into a Scottish jail, preferably one that is cold and damp, as soon as he gets out of the one in the Isle of Man ... even if that makes for some lovely romantic stories in his old age, it might also help him decide never to do anything that again.

BashfulClam · 18/12/2020 16:55

@YankeeDad I’m happy to go and boot his balls...socially distanced and wearing a mask of course.

MintyCedric · 18/12/2020 16:58

@AfterSchoolWorry

He's a fucking moron.

He has two kids at home. It'd suit him better to spend his time and energy focusing on his kids, instead of endangering his life and wasting the time of the authorities and coast guard.

This ^^

What an absolute twat...he can barely swim and they've been 'together' all of three months and yet he risks other people safety and leaving his kids without a father.

Thats not romantic, it's bloody selfish.

NatureNeverRushes · 18/12/2020 18:23

He's a gobshite

Cowmilk · 18/12/2020 21:07

He can’t swim and because of that I say it was not a wise decision. I love grand gestures, but not the types that threatens anyone’s life for your own selfish desires.

HowManyToes · 18/12/2020 21:21

He's an absolute reckless idiot. I can't believe any grown woman would think this was 'romantic'.
