Posting here for traffic as no responses on conception board.

Just as the title reads
and please can you state your ethnicity?

I want to do a crude analysis of how many women have conceived their first child after the age of 41 if they started their periods before 11.

I want to see if there is a difference in ethnicities as well.

I want to give myself some hope of trying to conceive my own child under these conditions.

Please do not respond with suggestions of adoption or donor eggs.

Thanks

It's a strange and very specific question to ask which is probably why you don't have a response. If you look through the fertility threads you'll find plenty of conversations about trying to and conceiving after 40.

VestaTilley · 16/12/2020 23:07

I think you’d have got more responses if you hadn’t said the thing about periods and age- that may be really limiting the numbers who can reply to you.

PrincessNutNutRoast · 16/12/2020 23:22

Does the age at which one started menstruating make a difference? Assuming it started normally and wasn't delayed because of PCOS or some such.

itsoffical · 16/12/2020 23:30

Is the age you started your periods relevant?
Is it because you only have a certain number of eggs?
Isn't the age you go into peri-menopause/menopause more relevant?

Sunbird24 · 16/12/2020 23:40

I started my periods aged 11 and have gone through IVF aged 42, next embryo transfer I’ll be 43. Can’t really see how this helps you though OP as I don’t have any known fertility issues, just either really bad taste in or luck with men...

NightBlue · 16/12/2020 23:44

I would rather have low responses rather than lots of irrelevant ones

Hi Sunbird, it helps because you are at least one person who has got pregnant with her own eggs despite starting periods at 11 or earlier.
I read something worrying today that 25 years after the start of periods you can't have your own biological children. I wanted to hear from at least a handful of people that met the criteria.

Hi! I believe I'm who you're looking for. Started periods at 11, started TTC around 41st birthday. I'm 45 now with a 3 year old and a 1 year old, had a miscarriage inbetween. Apparently there's not much of a link between early periods and later fertility. You lose lots of eggs every month regardless of whether you are ovulating them, hence why you lose so many thousands of eggs before you even hit puberty. Good luck!

Aquicknamechange2019 · 16/12/2020 23:50

I had my first period more than 25 years ago and I'm currently expecting DC4. I'm 43. Appreciate I don't fit the demographic you're looking for but thought it might help reassure you on the periods point.

Myal · 16/12/2020 23:51

I'm one but slightly under the age range.
Periods started age 10, diagnosed with PCOS late teens, fell pregnant at 37 and now mum to an almost 4 year old.

I'm sorry for some of the scary stuff you may have read, hope you're ok.

Ps...I'm British Asian (Pakistan)

PetraRabbit · 16/12/2020 23:52

Oh and it's not a strange question at all. It's the kind of question I would have asked myself 5 years ago.

NightBlue · 16/12/2020 23:53

Thank you Petra - you give me hope.

Another reason for posing the question is, I was curious if different ethnicities are affected differently.

Where does Sunbird say she got pregnant? She said she had IVF and is having another embryo transfer. Obviously hoping it worked out for Sunbird but your question says had a child or are TTC. OP even with IVF the chances of it not working at any age are greater than the chances of it working. If that's your plan go for it but because random people on this forum got pregnant or not won't affect your chances.
Restorationandredecoration · 17/12/2020 00:19

I started periods at 11 and got pregnant very easily, in fact accidentally after taking only one tiny risk, at 41. I had children before though so not quite what you are asking. I am White British if that’s relevant.

AlwaysLatte · 17/12/2020 00:30

Well 25 years after the start of my periods I was pregnant with my first and I had another 2.5 years later (both own eggs) so almost 27 years later! I was 36 and 39. Surely it's all variable though.

supersplodge · 17/12/2020 00:33

Not sure why you're asking. I'm white British, started periods at the end of what is now Year 7 - in the summer, so I assume I was 12? (12 and a half, Feb birthday).

Met DH late in life so didn't start trying to conceive until I was 39. After a couple of years of no luck I sought help and found I was having an early menopause. Had twins by donor eggs when I was 44. Never had a period again.

supersplodge · 17/12/2020 00:37

Sorry - just saw your later post - I'm not the person you want to hear from. But I was several years on from your 25, and I really think figures like that are massively unhelpful! Everyone is different!

Good luck.

TreadLightly3 · 17/12/2020 00:41

Hi OP I had my first child at 42 after very little effort and not a huge amount of sex! I had been tracking ovulation with Pink Pad app but that’s all. I started my periods at 11. I’m White.

There are lots of threads on here that show that so many women get pregnant naturally at 41+

Good luck and I really hope it happens for you.

I concieved my twins at around my 25th anniversary of periods.

Can you afford to pay for tests to look what your egg stores are like? Sorry I don't know the proper name but to assess your fertility basically?

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/12/2020 00:47

Had last baby at 45 and started my period at 10 and a half.
I wasn't trying for a baby. Thought my breeding days were long gone. Periods had been irregular for a couple of years.

Beldon · 17/12/2020 00:47

Last child was born when I was 42, periods started when I was 8

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 17/12/2020 00:48

I am white British

PickAChew · 17/12/2020 00:51

Oddly specific. Started periods just after 11th birthday. Still ovulated in early 40s though didn't ttc.
