Christmas cards with kids on

Please stop it.
I don't want photos of other people's kids gracing my mantelpiece.
I wouldn't subject you to it and my kids are clearly gorgeous (or rather I'm not deluded enough not to realise I'm the only person who thinks they are).
But special mentions to the toe cringing photos of kids dressed as Christmas puddings, elves, fairies and the like!

You don't want certain cards because they don't look nice on your wall?! They're not decorations fgs; they're little messages and well wishes from one friend, relative or contact to another

That’s just it, they’re messages not decorations. I read them and bin them. Any particularly pretty cards go on the wall.
But they all get binned after Xmas anyway, why would I hang on to them?

This is so revealing as do those who don’t like them not like the children and feel no interest in them?

I like their kids, I just don’t want photos of them on my wall or bookshelf! It’s a bit weird if they’re not your family. I see plenty of their kids pics on FB and used to have play dates so it’s not as if I need reminding how the kids have grown!
Newborn babies are always cute and people do those Xmas photoshoots with them.
But there’s no way I’d display a pic of my friend and her 3 sons in matching pjs or a fake-smiling 6-year-old sitting in Santa’s grotto.

@Thisischocolate

We received a Christmas card with not 1, but 14 small photos inside the card of the child!

It also had a full page update on what a “fantastic year it’s been even with this Covid business” Hmm

Boasts by Post seem to have gone out of favour, I used to love having a good laugh!

I don't mind seeing the kids on the front. And I have a giggle at how long it took to artfully place colour coordinated wooden toys in the background in an oh so natural way.

What does make me die inside is the god awful COVID themed poem. I know it comes from a good place, but why oh why would anyone think we want to read this.

I really don't like them but I don't tell the senders.
I think it's really self-absorbed, same with the calendars that SIL has made of the children. No I dont think they are the cutest thing ever, we have plenty of nice photos of them up in the house already without the calendars designed like a series of outtakes.

We’re friends with an American couple and they do the best Round Robin. It’s all written in the third person.

“Jake moved jobs this year after 14 excellent years with XYZ Bank and has really enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about himself through the interview process”.

“Kailyn turned 7 and donated all of her birthday money to Save Our Troops in memory of her Great-great-grandpappy who died in the Great War in 1915. She decided to do this all by herself”.

@Fluffybutter

What a horrible thing to say . You should be grateful anyone wants to send you Christmas cards in the first place .
100% agree. I wouldn't even send you a normal one if I knew how ungrateful you were.

Some absolute charmers on this thread. Merry fucking Christmas eh?

Yep. Thank goodness they are only randoms on MN and not people I actually know.
