It was my birthday yesterday. I was working all day. Picked up my DD from school. Had a little "party" at home with just her and my elderly parent (who lives with me). All very low-key. I don't mind that. I had a great time with them.
A bit of background - We're not in the UK. My boyfriend (not my DD's DF) doesn't live with us. He's 30 mins away. We haven't seen him for two months. Yesterday, we were all "allowed" out and about a bit more. There's an 8 p.m. curfew. I freelance (from home), so I'm free from around 3 p.m.
At midnight (Tuesday), he sent a message: "Happy birthday! I love you! Sleep tight!" And then that was it. Nothing all day yesterday. No call, text, card, present, suggestion of a visit.
I feel a bit miffed. I suppose I could call him and tell him, but I don't want to feel like a needy pillock. Maybe he thinks I should have organised something? Invited him over? But sometimes, I just wish I didn't have to spell everything out all the time. I've always done nice things for his birthday. I don't always want to be the one who says, "We'll meet here at this time and do this and that and blah, blah, blah".
Would it have killed him to post me a card or a gift? He's not been working since September.
Would you be a bit upset about this or am I being unreasonable?
