Pepco children's clothes - can I shrink them?

Completely random I apologise.

My absolutely lovely elderly DGM my DCs great grandmother has sent them some festive clothes from her home country, they are unfortunately several sizes too big and DCs would need at least a year or more to grow into them. She's really happy she managed to get out and get the parcel to us in time and I wouldn't dream of returning or telling her they don't fit.

I know she would love to see pictures of them in the clothes so I'm wondering if I could maybe shrink them a bit in the tumble dryer? It's a set of pjs and some long sleeved tops. They are PEPCO brand and the labels say not to tumble dry so I'm hoping if I do they will get smaller but would like to maybe get some advice as I would hate to completely ruin them!

Has anyone attempted this before? Should I try?
I know she'd be upset with herself if I told her they don't fit and I'd really love to send her pictures.

How big is too big? If large but wearable don't try and shrink them as they may not shrink evenly.

If you're handy with a safety pin(s) you can temporarily reduce the size for photos and the bonus is you'll get more than one festive season out of the clothes by the sounds of it. She may have sized up on purpose. Most of the clothes we receive as gifts for DC are 1-2 sizes bigger.

I would try the safety pin idea above or even see if you can order the same outfits in their size.

They are very obviously too big. DC is nearly 6 but wears 4-5 clothes as he's very slim and has a small frame. The clothes she sent are 7-8. Same for the other DC.
She's definitely hoping they will fit for now as they are very Christmassy and she said they can wear it Christmas Day etc.

Turn them inside out and sew along seams to make them smaller over all
