DHs Finger Problem!

DHs Finger has started swelling up in the last hour, he has not banged it or injured it, it is going very hard and numb and getting worse.

I've told him he needs to get seen asap! Trying to convince him to ring 111 now.

Anyone had this before?!

Is it hot?

Yes and he can't move it

It could be cellulitis. He does need to be seen ASAP. Draw a line around the swelling and any redness so you can see how it’s spreading.

Could it be herpetic whitlow. Although that would be painful.

Please get him to ring 111 ASAP or take him/send him to A&E. If it’s cellulitis, he’l need antibiotics.
