To be annoyed at my MIL for feeding 4 month old dates

I'm so annoyed, my Mil was baby sitting my 4 month old baby for me and when I got back to collect him she told me she gave him a bit of a date to ear.

She knows full well that I don't want him having anything other than breast milk as he is only 4 months old. I am fuming at the fact she disregarded what I've told her.

Yanbu, don't let her baby sit again until he's older and explain why

Obviously it’s not okay for her to feed your baby solids without your permission. Don’t let her have the baby alone again?

Had you specifically told her no solid food? I don't say this to blame you or criticise you in anyway. Its just it used to be normal to start babies on solids from about 16 weeks, so our parents would think it was normal to offer them solids.

It does seem from your post you had mentioned something about food. In which case if she goes against against your clear wishes, she should not be trusted to babysit again until she can respect your wishes

I've made it clear to DH that she won't be babysitting anymore. It is not right for her to feed my baby solids and ignore me like this. last time she said she used to feed DH when he was 4 months. I made it very clear that this is my baby not hers and she should respect my choices. Guess she paid no attention to me.

Agree and I would be annoyed in those circumstances.
It did remind me of my grandma feeding my 6 week old whiskey laced birthday cake at her 90th birthday tea?!! 🤦🏼‍♀️ To this day I don’t quite know why she thought that would be acceptable. He survived to tell the tale and is now a strapping 15 year old who finds the story very funny x

In some areas of the world dates are a common first food. Yes OP you right not to let her babysit again! Also she clearly thinks she knows better regarding your child and you have to disabuse her of that notion. You are in charge of baby not her, best to make that clear now. x
