To ask you to recommend me some good quality slippers?

I’m fed up of crap slippers. I’ve tried all the high street shop ones and they’re all a bit rubbish. Can you recommend me some that are hard wearing, comfortable, good grippy sole, not pink or sparkly and will not go all saggy and end up being a health and safety hazard?

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for warm, high-quality slippers, we’ve recently updated our best women’s slippers page with lots of great options, as worn and loved by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful. Flowers

Celtic & Co sheepskin house boots. They are eye wateringly expensive but they last for years. I worked from home pre-Covid and they are literally never off my feet. Do wish they did a darker colour though as mine do get mucky with cooking etc.

Othering · 13/12/2020 23:10

@Zeetah

My latest Celtic Sheepskin are completely trashed after less than 2 years and customer service were not especially helpful when I complained...... very disappointed. DH has had his years and they are still like new Sad
After nearly 2 years, you rang to complain about a pair of slippers???? I mean, I am one hard faced bugger who will hold a company to account when it's warranted but this is taking the proverbial somewhat! No wonder you got short shrift!

DW bought us both fur lined Crocs as we loved the unlined ones over the first lockdown.
I suffer dreadfully with my feet as I abused them with wild abandon in the 80s, wearing Bally stilettos for years.
Add in arthritis and I am in agony!!

My Crocs are amazing and I love them!!

PronkWine · 13/12/2020 23:14

M&S have been my favourites to date!

Yellownotblue · 13/12/2020 23:14

Garneau slippers. Made in Canada, available on Etsy and ship quickly. They last 5-10 years and are supremely cosy.

(I’m not affiliated, just a Canuck who loves her slippers!)

Yellownotblue · 13/12/2020 23:16

Oops, just saw the Etsy business is closed until next August. Sorry

Fleece lined Mammoth crocs here. Bad plantar fascitis, so they support me well.
Only prob is finding these crocs.

I blew £32 on a second very ugly pair a few weeks ago. But they're heaven for my feet.
My first pair, were £17 in one of their sales, which I've had 3 years are fine, but I'd been on the look out for another pair in case they discontinue them.

blueberryporridge · 13/12/2020 23:56

Another vote for Nordika slippers. A bit pricey but last for ages - I've been wearing my current pair for 3-4 years all the time I'm at home (and I've worked from home for years). They are just starting to show a bit of wear now on the insoles but I reckon they will do me another year or so still.

I would easily get through 2-4 pairs of cheap slippers a year so I reckon I am quids in as well as having comfy feet.

biddybird · 14/12/2020 00:30

@LunaLoveFood @Nonochair I've just got mine and realised the lining doesn't come out! How do you wash yours?

UnconsideredTrifles · 14/12/2020 00:43

Another Celtic &co fan here. I've had mine since before DC, so at least 4 years. I wear them constantly through the winter, put them through the washing machine, and I'm only now getting a hole in one (which actually hasn't affected the comfort, just the looks, since the fleece is so thick it's expanded to fill the hole!)

ClaireP20 · 14/12/2020 00:54

Ugg slippers. Although I confess mine are pink and sparkly ones...

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 14/12/2020 01:15

The moshulu ones look brilliant

I have some that look a lot like the spotty ones, but from Amazon - the brand is "Sleepers" - they were about £18 (and I thought that was expensive for slippers)
Had them for about a year - a bit flat though, I'd like better instep support.
Will try and remember for next years christmas list - do they come up true to size?

In my experience, slippers with soft bendy sole offer zero support and all end up going saggy.

nosswith · 14/12/2020 08:27

Try an independent shoe shop.

altiara · 14/12/2020 08:29

Based on a previous slipper thread, I’ve bought Skechers BOBs. They are amazing and I hate taking them off!
I need strong slippers as I have stone floors. Couldn’t recommend these more.

Aahotep · 14/12/2020 08:39

Birkenstock felt, indestructible and v warm and cosy

neilp123 · 14/12/2020 09:44

Bedroom Athletics. Wouldn't buy a pair if slippers from anywhere else.

Tbf to this poster, they cost around £75. Footwear that costs that much and only gets worn indoors should be expected to last a bloody long time....

RosesAndHellebores · 14/12/2020 13:43

My physio told me there was absolutely no point in buying good supportive shoes and using orthotics if you then spend hours slipping around in unsupportive slippers. She recommended a make called vionics but they are too slippery/fluffy for me.

If you think some of the above are expensive give Shipton & Heneage a Google. They are utterly beautiful but don't have great arch support.

2021optimist · 14/12/2020 14:36

Woolovers. Mules and normal. Love 'em.

PortalooSunset · 14/12/2020 19:52

I've got some Rocket Dog ones, they're ace, sturdy, comfortable and WARM! They're mule style and previously I'd had fleecy boot ones so I was worried they wouldn't keep my icy feet warm enough but they're absolutely toasty. Non slip with proper soles too.

NotMrsTumble · 14/12/2020 19:57

Fitflop slippers bought for a song in a sale a couple of years ago. Comfy, supportive and lasting well. I've bought DD18 a pair of gumbies slippers for Christmas, which look similar, and have the bonus of being made with recycled plastic. We've yet to see how well they last though.

chuffedasbuttons · 14/12/2020 20:11

Shepherd
Swedish sheepskin slippers

I wear them constantly. I machine wash them every now and then.

I get new ones about every three years. I have the booty type with a outdoor sole. They have tons.

About £60 but across three years? Cheap as chips

And natural material.
