Hello,

Unsure what thread to post this in but anyway. Has anyone upped and left? I live down in the south but have always wanted to live in Scotland. Specifically Glasgow. Been there many times and loved it more an more. Always wanted to but then I fell pregnant, pandemic etc all happened.

But I don’t want to ‘settle’ where I am. My partner says he would like to but we are just so scared to take our child from her family. He is really close with his parents and think my own nan might disown me if I take her away. I just don’t like anywhere down here. The whole 20 mile radius we’ve been looking for a house and nothing. Anything we don’t mind is so expensive and not worth the money so I just want to go.

Should I just stay? Let go of the dream?

Hi, I moved from South England to Scotland at 36 wks pregnant. My parents are still fit enough to travel (although they would love me closer, and I do worry that it will be hard as they get older!). It's hard not having the constant help I would have had with childcare, but we've managed fine. I'm so settled here and felt the same as you when we lived down South. My hubby does have family up here but no one local for reliable child care. We are less than an hr from Glasgow/Edinburgh, small town, great countryside, much less traffic! Much easier to move when they are tiny, easy to make friends at baby groups!
