To object to the white company seeing my husband a pink nightie

Ordered a men’s grey dressing gown for DH birthday today from white company. They delivered about 5 days ago. I didn’t check
He opens box...and I am not kidding...there was a pink nightie. lacy.
He wasn’t happy😳🤭
I spent over 1 hour in total trying to get through . Item now out of stock.
Husband has no present- other than a pink nightie which is too small for him anyway. Joking aside he was quietly pretty pissed off with me.
AIBU to think that this is either outstanding incompetency, or some jolly pick-packers idea of hilarity in their warehouses
Anyone else experiencing such **service from the White Company.

@VenusTiger

You're upset with The White Company for making a mistake and your DH is upset with you for not checking what you'd ordered for him for his birthday - as much as I don't agree with him being pissed off, I do agree that he should be upset that you couldn't even be bothered to check? It's like you don't care imo - you've clicked on an item, it's arrived and you've given it to him - no effort on your part at all really, not even looked at it for size/comfort, not wrapped - just passed on from the delivery person - maybe that's what he's upset about - the lack of care?
Actually a lot of effort went into searching on line in finding the damn thing in his size at price I can afford. It needed to be lightweight, comfy and soft. My efforts have gone into looking after him for weeks, cooking a lovely dinner for him as we can’t go out, and making a yummy home made birthday cake. Dont assume I’m lazy and can’t be bothered just cos I didn’t look - I have been a bit busy Some people can be very judgmental... I made a mistake in not checking I admit that.

I’ve been married over 30 years and if DH got a pink nightie I think he would be getting excited. He would think it was for me to put on and him to take off, best present of all as far as he is concerned.

Reading these responses is like everyone just repeats what others say... “my husband would have found this HILARIOUS; are you sure you don’t have a DH issue, op?”Hmm

OP, I completely understand; it’s disappointing and annoying. I have ordered so many things from Amazon, I too have not checked inside boxes before wrapping up. This thread has made me realise though I should be checking inside packagesGrin

That is hilarious! We would have found that very funny in our house. And would have definitely made him try it on 😉

VenusTiger · 12/12/2020 14:53

@Imaginetoday fair enough - it's not pink though Wink - The White Company is an expensive shop OP - try TK Maxx instead.

He sounds like a man-child, LTB

Paintedmaypole · 12/12/2020 15:50

You sound like a miserable pair. He is pissed off with you over a mistake and you for even thinking someone did this deliberately for a joke. Lighten up, wear the nightie yourself and buy him a grey dressing gown somehere else. Doesn't sound as if there is much fun in your house.

Make him a MN account as a gift, then he can become a fully paid up Mumsnet birthday bleater.

Obviously, tell him to pretend to be female. That way, instead of getting slated for being quietly pissed off, he'll have buckets of sympathy about being married to a man-child who couldn't be arsed to check the present when it arrived Wink
