The government are holding a public consultation to help inform their next steps on the campaign to end violence against women and girls.

The survey can be found here:

www.gov.uk/government/consultations/violence-against-women-and-girls-vawg-call-for-evidence

It closes on 15th December.

This is an important opportunity to have a say on current policy and which direction you would like to see future policy move in.

Thanks! Done. Bump!

VestaTilley · 11/12/2020 13:46

Bump. Thanks for flagging, OP.

I’m happy to complete it but don’t have expertise- is there something useful I could say in my response?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 11/12/2020 13:54

Answered. Interesting list at the end, for support organisations. I had to scroll down to find Women's Aid etc, despite the two male-based support charities being high up the list (in a consultation about women and girls...)

InglouriousBasterd · 11/12/2020 14:02

Completed and bumping.

ItRubsTheLotionOnItsSkin · 11/12/2020 14:02

I have completed it and have forwarded it to other women including my DDs. I wish I had kept a note of how many times men were mentioned (and not as perpetrators) in this consultation about women and girls.

It would be good if the focus could actually be on the female biological sex (women and girls) it's so important especially for something like this. Demonstrates one of the problems nicely though, if ironically.

TotorosFurryBehind · 11/12/2020 14:07

'violence against women and girls', ah, you mean male violence. Let's say it like it is.

EvilPea · 11/12/2020 14:13

Done.
Thank you Flowers @FoxyTheFox

@minipie

I am not sure if I can usefully contribute as have been lucky enough not to have experience in this area. But bumping.
If you’re a woman, or you know a woman or girl, in any capacity, your views are essential. It’s not just for those who have experienced violence in one of it’s many forms.
questionzzz · 11/12/2020 14:45

bump

OrangeDino · 11/12/2020 14:56

Done. Thanks for sharing.

TimeToParty · 11/12/2020 15:12

Done. I have been very lucky and have not experienced most of the crimes, but I still felt like the questions were relevant and I could answer them.

Most are opinion based and you can skip the experience-based section.

Everyone can fill this in imo.

I noticed this too but it seemed to be in alphabetical order. Even so, seeing as the survey was about violence against women and girls women’s aid should have been far higher up that list.

I’ve done the survey and offered my 2p. Not sure my thoughts will be that appreciated as my answer primarily is to chuck more fucking money at it as austerity has made things worse. But we’ll see.

Giggorata · 11/12/2020 16:04

Thank you. I have done this.

Just bumping this back to the top.

MayYouLiveInInterestingTimes · 11/12/2020 18:15

Is anyone else feeling a bit confused about the expansion of the word "violence", on this survey and elsewhere? Violence to me is physical. Many of the unpleasantnesses referred to are not in that realm, although they are misogynistic, such as stalking and upskirting. Maybe it's just at the end of a long week.

corlan · 11/12/2020 18:18

Thanks - filled it in.

‘Unpleasantness’ Confused
Fortunefavours1 · 12/12/2020 08:47

@MayYouLiveInInterestingTimes what part of stalking and upskirting isn't physical? To describe those as unpleasant is dismissing how intimidating and devastating they can be.

CoronaCurls · 12/12/2020 09:03

I've just filled it in - shocked but not surprised that charities supporting male victims come much higher up the list than any supporting women in a survey about violence against women 🙄

MynephewR · 12/12/2020 09:13

Done. Thanks for sharing OP
