Things you can't stand for no reason whatsoever?

I have a real aversion to silicone. For some reason the thought of it makes me feel like I'm going to throw up, I can honestly get to heaving point 🤢 I've no idea why, it's not the feel of it. I just can't stand the thought of it.

It's the same with bottle tops, like the screw bottle top on a bottle of coke. The tip is always so scratchy and it gives me shivers.

Anyone else have random things they cannot stand but can't really explain?

DH thinks I'm a freak 😂

Fast flashing Christmas lights

R.E.M. (the band not the sleep phase)

Other people’s loud eating noises or talking with mouth full.

Also agree on electronics noise but specifically in public spaces (e.g. people watching videos on the train with no headphones on or kids watching iPads in restaurants with the sound on and no headphones - real example and I was silently triggered and yes I have a kid and yes I’d happily engage iPad babysitter if needed but I’d make sure the sound was off or she had headphones, I wouldn’t inflict it on other people!!...clearly I’ve had a long tiring day and this thread has reminded me of the rage I pushed deep down in my soul 😂)

Claudia winkleman's frosted lipstick, unwashed looking fake tan and that fringe over her eyes.
Reminds me of a varnished dulux dog.
Holly Willoughby. Looks like a gormless dolphin when she smiles and that hubby looks like a hammerhead shark. She's where she is due to who she got under.

FrenchtoEnglish · 10/12/2020 23:15

When the dog puts his head on my leg. I could faint.

Onlymeandthedognow · 10/12/2020 23:18

Had to scroll quickly past the “cotton wool in mouth” posts - noooooo
Also I cannot stand anything wooden in my mouth ( lolly sticks, ice cream spoons and especially wooden spoons🥴) makes my mouth all weird and watery!
Can’t bear the sight or smell of fresh fish🤢 literally have to close my eyes and hurry past the counter in supermarkets! If I accidentally see the fish, it makes me almost cry!!🤷‍♀️

Custard slices or custard tarts. I am not talking about the taste as I obviously detest and don't eat them but just the sight of them on a store shelf.

Leather caps (headwear on men or women) ugh!

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 10/12/2020 23:29

The word 'dumb' as in 'bit silly/stupid'. I get properly irrational rage over it.

lalafafa · 10/12/2020 23:39

@Bluntness100

People who don’t pick their feet up when they walk, People who make loud noises when eating. Well any noise. Poor table manners, like talking with your mouth full or using your cutlery incorrectly,

All completely and utterly innocuous but so irritating,

I’m in your gang. Dh and his immediate family have flat feet and are shufflers.

Pigeons too.

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 10/12/2020 23:41

The paper straws that McDonald's have introduced. I hate them and the way they scrape against the plastic lids.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 10/12/2020 23:43

The sound of people brushing their teeth in films / tv as it's always sort of dry sounding. Shuddering now thinking about it bleurgh.

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 10/12/2020 23:45

@Chimeraforce who did she sleep with?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 10/12/2020 23:49

Too-short fringes. They always look stuck on to me.

NotImpossible · 10/12/2020 23:51

Food in the 'wrong' place. On fingers, face etc. Including babies. Soup in a mug (should be a bowl with a spoon). Etc. Makes me feel Envy

It goes without saying I'm no good with sickness either...

NotImpossible · 10/12/2020 23:52

And people brushing teeth. Can't look at it.

(Why is it on TV so often? So many programmes seem to have a toothbrushing scene...)

Thefirsttime · 10/12/2020 23:57

@hugocat

I hate 'DH, DP, DD, DS ' etc on here . Please say I'm not the only one ???
No you’re not. I also hate it too. It sounds so stupid. Why don’t people type the actual word -it’s not like it requires a huge amount more time or effort to do so.
Thefirsttime · 10/12/2020 23:59

I’ve found my people.
I also hate, polystyrene- the feel of it and the sound it makes urgh.
Dry sponges
Balloons especially the sound they make when they land on carpet. Only rubber balloons though-I have absolutely no problem with the foil ones.

SoundWithoutAName · 11/12/2020 00:01

Loud chewing, biting/picking nails

oldshoeuk · 11/12/2020 00:51

I have a terrible fear of sandpaper touching the backs of my fingernails, no idea why, but I need to be super careful when near it.

CutToChase · 11/12/2020 06:35

The stable of English actress "sweethearts":
Helen Mirren is one but the one I cannot STAND is Olivia Coleman. For some reason Judi Dench is fine. I think theres a self deprecating line and Olivia crosses it. I have to switch off if I see her on telly!

newlabelwriter · 11/12/2020 06:39

Ripping tissues or cotton wool. Shuddering just thinking about it.

WhyDoYouAsk · 11/12/2020 06:50

Open tin cans.
Ones opened with a can opener are only marginally worse than ones opened with the tab.
Corned beef , tuna and those little kipper tins are on another level.

WhyDoYouAsk · 11/12/2020 06:53

Cutochase
I cannot bear her.
She ruined ‘The crown’ for me.

CutToChase · 11/12/2020 06:53

@WhyDoYouAsk
Do you remember the award speech?! 😱

strawberriesunited · 11/12/2020 06:55

Barefoot on paving slabs makes me heave
Realising that my shoes are just that tiny bit to tight and i can't stretch my toes out

WhyDoYouAsk · 11/12/2020 07:06

CutToChase
Ah yes! Her genuine humility, sincerity and raw vulnerability make such a ... umm... refreshing change.

FastFood · 11/12/2020 07:22

Can't stand the touch of glassware out of the dishwasher.

And the sight of kids wish face paintings, especially when it's a tiger or a cat. Just hate it.

Super long hair. Anything longer than the middle of the back.
