Fifty Fifty, The Silent Patient

Another one place marking . I've read a few mentioned here (hunting party. Family upstairs . Sister sister . and the Clare mackintosh ones) but it was several months ago and due to the number of paperback best sellers I've read they all merge together!
Have more recently been reading police procedural series on kindle but will look at some of the newer choices suggested here.

Another vote for The Chain by Adrian McKinty it has a theme that I’ve never come across. Chilling-What would you do ?????

StealthPolarBear · 10/12/2020 20:00

Three hours by Rosamund Lupton. So good I started a thread about it

Savourysenorita · 10/12/2020 21:19

Anything by B A Paris is utterly devourable. (well except the dilemma - it wasn't up to her usual standard) her next Is due out soon! You can pre order on amazon

Savourysenorita · 10/12/2020 21:23

This book didn't seem to get much 'press' but trust me you won't regret reading it. I'm desperate for this author to write another!

Please may I jump on this thread and ask, are any of these books (I know Follow You Home is) available on Kindle Unlimited? Thanks.

Clawdy · 10/12/2020 22:32

Haven't They Grown ? was beyond ridiculous, the ending a huge let-down like most of her books.

IGetIt · 10/12/2020 22:56

The Tall Man by Phoebe Locke is also very good. Bit creepy too which I like!

This thread is just what I didn’t know I was looking for!
I love a really good thriller but as pps have mentioned, the market is saturated with bland formulaic offerings.
I did enjoy Blood Orange although the end was a bit of a let down.
I’ve ordered a few recommendations from this thread, thanks! Got some good Christmas reading lined up.

ButtWormHole · 10/12/2020 23:15

FFS now I have a ton of books on my wishlist. Thanks everyone

This looks good... Not heard of it... Off for a Google!
Savourysenorita · 10/12/2020 23:26

Ps I find a lot of the bragged about advertised books overrated. Also Is it just me or can you all tell in the first couple of pages whether you'll persevere with a book or not? This is a bit weird but I can usually tell in the first paragraph! I've read so many books lately that I've read the first couple of chapters, tried desperately to get back into it and just gave up. Disappointing 😌

catlovingdoctor · 10/12/2020 23:41

The woman in the window. I'm looking forward to the film!

becca3210 · 11/12/2020 07:02

Fifty-Fifty by Steve Cavanagh was a good read

WitchesSpelleas · 11/12/2020 07:15

I enjoyed 'The Dilemma' by BA Paris.

I had to laugh, though, when there was a flash forward to 2020 to a scene of ... a massive party. I was reading the book during lockdown. The dangers of writing about the future Grin.

bert3400 · 11/12/2020 07:23

Blatantly place marking

Mummadeeze · 11/12/2020 07:36

Skin Deep by Liz Nigent. Anything by Sabine Durrant or Araminta Hall.

@catlovingdoctor I hated this book with a passion. 🙈
Womanwiththegoldenbun · 11/12/2020 10:55

I struggled with The Liars Chair as the main character was so passive and I found it really dull.

The Silent Patient - good story, easy to read, not very literary but enjoyable.

Sometimes I lie- Alice Feeneys first book was a well written page turner with a twist.

Currently trying to get through Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. I slightly wince at books written by celebs as so often it's the fame of the writer not the quality of the writing that gets the book selling. But am persevering as the setting and premise seems right up my street.

Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam. It’s already being made into a Netflix film with Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington.
Seriously unsettling - can’t stop thinking about it.

Straight on my reading list!

I disliked The Silent Patient and Blood Orange. I really enjoyed The Family Upstairs.

Soundbyte · 11/12/2020 12:44

The silent patient for me too.

Soundbyte · 11/12/2020 12:51

Also not a psychological thriller as such but I read ‘found’ by Erin Kinsley and was hooked immediately. It’s one that’s really stayed with me too.
