To ask for work advice?

I’m sorry, this sounds really daft. I’m in a professional role but currently looking to move up a step - think from manger to head of but not as fancy as that. My manager set up a meeting for a director to start to mentor me. Somehow it’s crept up and now it’s tomorrow and to be honest I have no idea what I’m supposed to ask or get from this and I’m terrified of going in there unprepared. Has anyone been in this position? Will I be expected to ask questions? I’m an idiot. What do I say??

They will ask you questions
You will ask them - once you start chatting it may flow better

Do you know everything about your new/potential role? Ask questions about that

Other ideas:
Best work lessons they have learned
Most important things in the role/company
Skills needed
Greatest achievements
Objectives/future plans
What to avoid!

Good luck Smile
