Barbie house for a 10 year old?!

Is 10 too old for a barbie dolls house? My eldest has asked for one for Xmas but they are bloody expensive but it's all she's really put on her list apart from a colouring book Confused
She's at an age where I don't think she really knows what she wants. She likes the idea of being grown up but also still likes to play with toys (although I don't think she'd admit that to her friends!) She does play with her barbies sometimes but I wouldn't say she's hugely into them.
Do I ignore her request for the barbie house and get her some other bits or just get her it?
What are other 10 year old girls getting?!

If you asked her to make a list or helped her with it and finances allow why not get it? If she has it out in her room when her friends are around she might discover they also enjoy playing with Barbie and are not admitting it to their friends.

I still played with Barbies at 11, I remember being a bit embarrassed about still wanting to play with them when I went to senior school but still enjoyed it until I was 12. I wasn't the only one, I had quite a few friends who did too. So I'd let her enjoy them while she still wants to! We spent hours creating stories about them.

Thanks all. I have ordered it. I do think she'll play with it a bit, just possibly won't mention it to her mates! I trust her to keep it in good condition so will sell on when she's had her use out of it.
I remember having the same crisis when I was about that age - desperate to grow up but still secretly enjoyed being a child still!

My DD used to hide her sylvanians when her friends came round - no mean feat as she had loads of the stuff - we decided to pretend we'd had younger kids over who'd wanted to play with it all in the end as a cover story Grin

You did the right thing by buying what she wanted HaloStarHalo

Oh bless her. I have up Barbie dolls aged 12 because an older friend shamed me for it .
I love the idea of decorating /home interior as pp suggested.

Hey you can always sell it on Facebook etc in a years time if she doesn’t take to it

My 9yo has asked for barbie house too. We had one and she didn't play with it. We also have a camper van and cruise ship that she barely plans with. I was willing to pay £20 if I could get a cheap one on market place / ebay but they have been going for more.

My 9 year old still plays with Barbie, she wanted the dream house but it’s oos everywhere even when I looked on eBay it was going for £250/300 second hand which is more than it is new in Argos 😒
