Any dentists out there?

I have a root canal filling on one of my top front teeth/right side. It’s very heavily filled. I’ve started getting the odd twinge of pain from it but on a scale of 1-10 it’s about a 3? My dentist told me it would have to come out. I couldn’t have a crown. That I would have a gap there for about 12 weeks and then he would fit a tooth. He said I’m looking at £1000 - £1500. I asked if I could have a temporary tooth while waiting for the permanent one to be fixed and he said no. This feels a bit drastic to me? Any advice appreciated.

Would you consider a temporary denture? It sounds like you're having a bridge in which case it's best to let the jaw bone remodel for 3-6 months before making the bridge, otherwise a gap may form underneath it. Maybe call your dentist and ask to have another chat about it so he can explain himself better. It's difficult at appointments at the moment due to the amount of PPE

Thank you for your reply.
I think i might have to see the dentist again.
He did mention a bridge. It just felt a bit over the top for a tooth that isn’t causing me a lot of pain! Thanks again xx

He might have seen a lot of infection on an x ray or a crack that means you might get a painful abscess in the future and wants to spare you that. Definitely have a chat with him :-)
