Tip/Gift for Postman

Our postie is great, especially over the last year. Always polite, friendly and has been known to circle back to make sure you get your parcels etc.

What would you tip or gift and is this ok? I was thinking of a £5/10 gift card. We are not flush at the moment - as for many - it's been a difficult year.

(And just to fit in an AIBU... ) AIBU because I haven't thought of doing the same for refuse workers etc?

£5 or £10 would be very happily received! But cash better than a gift card

We gave our postie £10 today (and a beanie hat- but that came from chats with him) He is great - and we very much appreciate the effort he puts in.

Postie's mrs here...lovely ideas but it's standard practice that all tips, esp cash and food/drink, are collected. Cash is split amongst all equally to balance out millionaire row rounds/deprived rounds and then names in a hat for who gets chocs, wine, biscuits etc.

So make sure if you want it to go specifically to your postie that you make that very, very clear - even better, something personal (love the beanie hat example) that it wouldn't be appropriate to share out with others.

Not on the high street have been running this campaign: www.notonthehighstreet.com/campaign/thank-your-postie where you receive a bar of chocolate with a thank you poem on it.

@Lancrelady80 would it be expected to share something like this? Seems a bit unfair if it's been ordered for an individual as a thank you.

Thank you for letting me know.
