to not be surprised that the Galactic Federation thinks that humanity is not ready to know about aliens yet

So it seems that Israel and the USA have been contacted by a Galactic Federation but we aren't ready to know about aliens yet as humanity isn't ready.

Based on Star Trek knowledge - have they got people on Earth already who have blended in and are giving feedback to the Federation?

Have they seen how obsessed we are with fighting each other in wars?

I wonder what it would take for us to be accepted into a Galactic Federation?

Could we work together as a world? Or we would we try and work for each country's best interests?

I've seen the Star Trek episodes where a society just isn't ready to learn about the wider world.

They didn't think to intervene before Trump got voted in. Just when he was about to blurt out they existed Grin. They could have helped with the covid situation. Selfish bastards

Prime directive.

Not allowed to interfere in another civilisation's development, no matter what's going on and even if they can make a difference - unless the civilisation ask of course.

Although Picard and Kirk both violated this on several occasions.

Picard was a leftie woke twat, no wonder he violated the prime directive Smile

Plussizejumpsuit · 08/12/2020 20:54

I reckon they think letting us know about it breaks the prime directive and we have to just be left to it to destroy ourselves that is our course. Not to be pessimistic or anything but humanity is a hot mess.

ArosGartref · 08/12/2020 20:57

If you are a nerd like me the 21st Century continued to be a time of turmoil in the star trek universe. I have hope that anyone who survives WW3 has a great future.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/12/2020 20:59

If I was an alien, the very last countries I'd contact would be the US and Israel.

Sooner North Korea and Somalia.

Now that almost happened in Stargate - when some scientists and some politicians wanted to reveal the presence of an alien world (i.e. Earth) but they realised that the people just weren't ready for it.

I do wonder how we would react? How would our militaries react?

Wonder if the U.K. could get a trade deal with them?

Just as long as the Ferengi aren't leading the negotiations Grin

@chomalungma Oh Christ, BoJo would definitely agree to Britain's females wandering around nekked if it meant getting his hands on all that gold-pressed Latinum.
