To be irritated with Amazon

I ordered something on 28th November - luckily not something expensive but I did need it.

It was meant to arrive by 2nd - 4th November but there's still no sign of it.

Now they say the package is lost and I can apply for a refund - except when I clicked on that button, I got

"Occasionally parcels arrive a day or more after they are expected. Please come back here if it hasn't shown up by Wednesday, 24 Mar for a refund or a replacement."

What ... they want me to wait nearly 4 months to see whether or not it turns up before they'll refund me!!

AIBU to think this is entirely unreasonable? I'm glad it wasn't something really expensive

^^ that should be 2nd to 4th December not November

Just call their customer service and say that there is clearly an error as its not reasonable to wait that long. Demand a refund immediately. Simple.

Their online chat usually sorts this stuff out too.

oldsizenines · 08/12/2020 15:52

Yeah just get in contact via the online chat I would. They'll sort it.

HopeAndDriftWood · 08/12/2020 15:52

I'm pretty sure that's a glitch, and if you either phone or livechat, they'll fix it for you pretty easily.

JustCallMeGriffin · 08/12/2020 15:52

YABU because all you need to do is pop on online chat and they'll sort it.

The automated system isn't perfect, but the real people behind the scenes are pretty decent at sorting out mistakes unlike Dunelm

I ordered stuff too, and its saying the same, I can see the tracking and its SUPER slow, came direct from seller not amazon, so its obviously on its way, but with everything delayed, its still not here, I ordered it in October, was due end of November.

FuzzyPuffling · 08/12/2020 15:55

I used their "call me back" service today for two parcels that had not arrived. They tried to tell me to call back tomorrow when we will be able to process it, but I said that wasn't on and got a refund on one item and a replacement on the other. First offer was Amazon credit, but I asked for, and got, a refund to my credit card.

HitthatroadJack · 08/12/2020 16:18

Amazon is pretty good with things like that. Is it direct from Amazon warehouses, or from the seller? When it's their own, you normally get a quick resolution.

Justcallmebebes · 08/12/2020 16:22

Amazon online chat is absolutely brilliant. Had two issues this week. All sorted within 5 minutes each call.

listsandbudgets · 08/12/2020 16:33

Thanks. Sadly it wasn't sent by them - didn't realise until it didn't turn up so my fault.

I've got another order which also hasn't appeared and again it wasn't sent by them directly. Annoyingly they just keep rolling back the expected date on that one - Its christmas jumper for DS and I'll just have to go out and get him another for school Christmas jumper day.

I will try Amazon - I don't think I've had cause to use their customer services for years.

I have had a lot of problems with Amazon deliveries recently go onto chat and they will provide a refund.

listsandbudgets · 08/12/2020 17:39

Bizarrely a few minutes after my lasy post the postman turned up with both missing parcels.

Now just awaiting one from Etsy and one from a small independent and I think I will have everything just about ( until I remember the long list of people I've missed!)
