"Yeah, I heard you was involved in an accident?"

Were you bastards, it's were! The same recorded lady again and again, I swear she's out to get me!

If it's on a landline, buy a call blocking phone - you won't regret it. I don't think there's a version that blocks bad grammar only, though Grin.

I block them, but not before I've had some fun with them. I've died, remain in a coma, tell them I'm 12, pretend not to speak English or sometimes just put the phone to one side and crack on with my day.

This approach seems to have reduced calls for me though 😂

PronkWine · 08/12/2020 12:48

I've blocked about a dozen numbers! They keep finding me 😂

A call blocking phone will intercept calls from any number that's not on your safe list and give you the opportunity to screen it before answering, blocking or diverting to answering machine. No use if you like winding the cold callers up, of course!

I told them I had amnesia due to a head decapitation. It took a bit of time for that to sink in.

twoshedsjackson · 08/12/2020 13:11

I recently replied politely and asked for further details; the caller panicked and hung up. Maybe they're so used to the phone being slammed down......

drinkingwineoutofamug · 08/12/2020 13:13

Told them that I was grateful that they had called. The body had been in my boot for 3 days and was starting to smell. Could they give me any advice.
The twats put the phone down on me 😂

Yes you need a call blocking phone. We have one - got it a good few years ago and magically all those phone calls stopped. They can’t get past the querying stage. You can enter phone numbers that you want it to allow through and then add others as they come - you have to press 1 to accept the call and then afterwards you click on the number to always allow it through so over a few weeks you cover all your usual contacts. Occasionally we get a new call that we was by to let through each time but that’s rare now. Used to be bombarded by all these annoying calls - and they stopped as soon as we got this new phone.

Want to let through each time ...

Osteomancer · 08/12/2020 13:55

ratspeaker · 08/12/2020 17:58

I just had one this afternoon.
Oddly enough I had been in an accident recently but when I told the caller my insurance say all contact MUST go through them they hung up.
