Isolation question

This is something I could probably find online but here goes

A parent from my child’s class (primary age) is unwell and got a covid test so I assume they are all isolating which is to be expected. Said child was in school Friday before her mother get ill now isolating until results.

This is me jumping to the worst conclusion here (typical me). The test isn’t even positive yet - hopefully it’ll be negative!

The class will not have to isolate if it’s only the mother who has symptoms?

But say the daughter got symptoms during isolation. Say later this week for example but she hadn’t been in school since Friday would that mean the class would not have to isolate as she hadn’t been in since the week before? Or they would anyway?

I have a hospital app this week and I’m just jumping to the worst case scenario again - damn anxiety!

The class will not have to isolate if only the mother has symptoms. Test and trace only look at contacts 48 hours before symptoms developed so even if the daughter developed symptoms this week the class will not have to isolate. Even if you daughter’s class is asked to isolate due to another contact, you don’t have to unless she developed symptoms. So you should be fine for your appointment.

Thank you. What will be will be of course. Cant do anything about it but I’ve waited a year for this. Fingers crossed 🤞
