To report fucking neighbours

PottyPollyPutty · 06/12/2020 23:39

Because their dog literally keeps the whole fucking street up all night. It howls and howls and howls all night.

Am I being naive thinking the council will do anything at all? (They are council tenants). We aren't the only ones on the street who complain about it.

The guy can be very hostile so I don't feel comfortable going round there. I always hear him shouting as well.

It's driving me insane.

Report to the police, the RSPCA, the council and the dog warden.

Mumblechum0 · 06/12/2020 23:42

Definitely report it. We’ve had this problem, neighbours across the lane left their dogs roaming free in the garden. Every single time someone walked past the dogs went mental.

I reported it to EH, they got it sorted (neighbours fenced them in to the back garden. Problem solved.

Divebar · 06/12/2020 23:44

Who’s the neighbour shouting at / to ?

AnnnaBananna · 06/12/2020 23:48

You need to report it. Where is the dog? It’s obviously distressed.

JamieLeeCurtains · 06/12/2020 23:50

Start with the noise team at your Council (also variously listed under Environmental Health or Public Protection).

You can ask to be anonymous, ie your identity not disclosed to the neighbours.

Our noise team are pretty good.

Most other agencies require this as a first step before they'll get involved, which is fair enough, unless threats or danger are involved e.g. dangerous dogs, cruelty, children, vulnerable adults.

giggly · 07/12/2020 00:09

I came on this now to look for a similar thread here a few weeks ago.
I’ve had to go out the back at 10.20 tonight to ask my neighbours to stop their dog barking as it’s woke my dc up. I got told no I won’t as it’s only 10.20Confused and their allowed to make noise until 10.30 wtf( it’s actually 11pm)
I said that’s very rude as you know my kids have school in the morning only to be told that I’m being rude.
I nearly jumped the fence and nutted her.
I’m into the council in the morning, years I’ve put up with it and the one time I ask nicely Angry

dottiedaisee · 07/12/2020 00:12

Am more concerned about the doggie!! Definitely report to RSPCA.

VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 00:16

Animal lover here.... police is not the way - the poor dog needs either medical attention, love, a crate (open not locked, for security at night) or training. Poor dog OP, that's what I'd be upset about, the poor dog Sad

Not sure what being a animal lover has to do with this Hmm do you expect the OP to go and give the dog these things?

Yes report them OP. Rspca, police, council, dog warden of you have one. Try get some of the neighbours to do the same.

Skyshale · 07/12/2020 00:29

You need to lodge a complaint to your local council. There are too many inconsiderate people around not training their dogs properly. We have neighbours that don't give a shit too - ever since they had their baby a few months ago they lock the dog on the garden and leave it to bark and bark and bark and bark. It is the loudest bark (doesn't help that the houses on my estate are so tightly compacted together so the sound reverberates) and it is an absolute nuisance. I know from experience that it is very difficult to feel sorry for the dog when you grow to despise it over time.
Get it reported OP.

AmICrazyorWhat2 · 07/12/2020 00:39

The dog must be very distressed to be howling for hours, not to mention disturbing the neighborhood. Please report and I hope it gets sorted out v. soon.

Our former neighbor’s dog used to howl if he left her alone at night. She was a rescue that had been mistreated and she panicked when left at night. ☹️

choosername1234 · 07/12/2020 00:52

Anyone else think this was going to be about neighbours having noisy sex?

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/12/2020 00:56

@dottiedaisee

Am more concerned about the doggie!! Definitely report to RSPCA.
In my region the RSPCA will absolutely not look at a case of dog barking / howling unless you've reported it to the Council first or you have quite literally seen and recorded evidence of animal cruelty.

I honestly don't know what the RSCPA is for these days.

thosetalesofunexpected · 07/12/2020 01:03

@giggly
Your next door neighbour sounds like bit of Arsehole.

And your next door is in wrong in more ways than one.

Its before/until 8.pm is the designated time people are allowed to make reasonable normal everyday sort of noise I think that's the law in uk...

LadyFelsham · 07/12/2020 01:37

@JamieLeeCurtains

Please give money to local animal charities, manned by volunteers where all the money raised goes to animals.

The RSPCA do fuck all to help animals and are more concerned with giving benefits to their staff, including private healthcare. This would all be fine if they put as much effort into the animals that they are supposed to be protecting but they're not.

Go on the web page and find out how to report cruelty. The first thing they have is that "because of stretched resources" (ha!) they can only attend if an animal is in imminent danger.

If you do manage to get one of the fuckers to pick up a phone, they will tell you the same thing and imminent danger does mean just that-not neglect but in danger of death.

Local charities will do so much more with £50 or even tins of food than these fuckers ever will. What's more, they'll tell you how they use the money!

Of course, you only need to google Employeees Benefits + RSPCA to find out how they spend theirs and it ain't on looking after distressed animals.

OP. Don't bother with the RSPCA. On their website, under barking dogs-they tell you dogs bark for many reasons (yes, you fuckers and one of those reasons is distress) and contact your local authority before contacting them!

VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 09:22

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion get lost. I can explain my reasons for thinking of the animal's welfare before thinking it's a nuisance if I want to, what's your problem, because I don't have one.

FelicityPike · 07/12/2020 09:30

We phoned the SSPCA about a neighbours barking dog. Neighbour works very long hours and the poor thing constantly barks and howls is never out to do his needs.
Person on the phone said “dogs bark you know” then hung up!
Phoned the council & police, SSPCA visited the next day, removed the dog.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/12/2020 09:44

@VenusTiger wow, bit of an over reaction. You didn't give any advice at all. Just came on told the OP that the police isn't the way to go, and proclaimed "animal lover here" as though that gave you some sort of authority or greater knowledge of what to do than anyone else.

GabsAlot · 07/12/2020 09:58

I had this rspca wouoldnt do anything but council sent me a form to keep a diary not long after they moved but co9uld be a coincidence

phone the council if theyve had other reports they'll be on it

longwayoff · 07/12/2020 10:12

My stupid ex neighbour bought a husky which he loved but it howelleda almost constantly. It was horrendous. Good luck with getting anyone to take hours complaint seriously. Fool had the cheek to take it on holiday with him to a pet friendly hotel and was deeply affronted when they told him to leave. "But it's a dog innit?"

KarmaStar · 07/12/2020 10:23

Yes report to police council rspca.poor dog.

VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 10:26

Over- reaction? @Iminaglasscaseofemotion - you've picked me out for saying I'm an animal lover - so bloody what if I want to back-up my post - again, what the hell is your problem? why are you even pointing it out? Have you got nothing to do today?

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/12/2020 10:33

Back up your post again? With what. Very aggressive reaction 🙄

PottyPollyPutty · 07/12/2020 10:36

Just to clarify, I am obviously concerned about the dog itself, I know it's not their fault. If I believed the RSPCA would do anything at all I'd have phoned them but I know from experience that they aren't bothered about stuff like this, worse than this in fact.

The dog isn't outside, it's inside. I don't know why it's barking/howling, I've never actually seen it!

I will contact the council, I think I'll have to start keeping a diary as PP suggested. I was hoping as they are council tenants that they might be more inclined to do something but probably not. Our council is rubbish tbh.

The man is regularly shouting at his partner I believe. He is not very nice. Police been called a few times. It's a shame because the rest of the street is really nice and quiet. These guys have piles of furniture in the garden and everything. Hate to say it but they make the whole street look a mess.

They left for a while during lockdown and it was bliss. Back now though unfortunately.

Wish they'd bloody leave.

VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 10:45

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion it's called being defensive - why are you STILL attacking me over the fact I've said I'm an animal lover. What is going on here? Now you're accusing ME of being aggressive, are you serious?
