To report fucking neighbours

53 replies

PottyPollyPutty · 06/12/2020 23:39

Because their dog literally keeps the whole fucking street up all night. It howls and howls and howls all night.

Am I being naive thinking the council will do anything at all? (They are council tenants). We aren't the only ones on the street who complain about it.

The guy can be very hostile so I don't feel comfortable going round there. I always hear him shouting as well.

It's driving me insane.

OP posts:
VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 10:49

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion you can't even read what I've posted either, I said so what if I want to back-up my post (putting the animal's welfare first, before the complaint) the again belongs to the next sentence.

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/12/2020 10:52

OP, If the primary presenting problem is domestic abuse, with noise and dog neglect as secondary problems, you can also alert the council's housing office and the police domestic abuse unit.

It sounds like someone needs to be helping the woman who lives in that house. The more reports from concerned neighbours the better. You can even do it anonymously through Crime Stoppers (online or phone).

The dog is a symptom of a bigger issue here.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/12/2020 10:58

@VenusTiger you need to calm down. What exactly do you want the OP to do about the dogs welfare without reporting? I thought it was odd that you come on the a thread and announce "animal lover" as thought it makes your opinion any more valid than anyone else.
Obviously reporting to authorities is the only way the OP can do anything for the dog, bit you are telling her not to Confused.

Bridget212 · 07/12/2020 11:10

Try your local councillor OP, not the council staff but the actual elected member. Their details should be on your councils website. I’d mention your concern for the dog and women first, then them keeping you awake.

VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 11:24

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion I don't need to calm down, I'm not being aggressive??????? how odd. You've picked me up on what I said in my post, and then you accused me of reacting? I don't understand what your point is. You've clearly read my first post completely wrong, perspective is personal. You don't like my post, I get it, so stop going on and on about it. You're very bossy aren't you - don't type that, don't get defensive, calm down - just leave me alone will you. I don't know who you think you are.

rowlett · 07/12/2020 11:43

My neighbours have a dog who howls and barks wildly every time anyone walks past the house (terraced houses opening straight onto the street), anytime anyone goes into or leave their house, and at intervals during the night and morning (often past 2AM). I've never seen them walk it (and their "garden" is a very very small yard not really sufficient for a dog) and one of the men who lives there occasionally shouts aggressively at it when it barks which of course does nothing but upset it more. Not only does the noise set me on edge all the time but I do feel desperately sorry for the dog, no idea why they got one if they can't be arsed looking after it. I have reported it to the noise people and also animal welfare several times and got nothing in return (I have also had other reason to report these neighbours to the council for other noise like music, parties and loud arguments over the past few years I tried speaking to them nicely first but they are utterly unapproachable and don't give a shit and basically got nowhere). I'm moving early next year thank god. I really hope you get further than I did OP, it's not the dog's fault at all but that kind of noise can drive you nuts.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/12/2020 12:03

@VenusTiger. Accused you of reacting? You did react. I picked up something you said in your post because it didn't really make sense, and wondered what exactly it was you expected the OP to do? Sounded like you were accusing the OP of not caring for the dog, but the dogs welfare isn't her responsibility and apart from report the people that own the dog, there's not much she can do. You were advising not to report.
I'm not being "bossy" at all, I'm just replying to your messages. They are very over the top, and there really was no need.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/12/2020 12:05

And I didn't read your first post wrong at all. You told OP they should report to the police, then gave a lost of what the dog needs like food, a crate Confused etc. Not sure how that helps?

TillyTopper · 07/12/2020 12:05

Go on to your local councils website and it will tell you what to do about dog noise. Keep a lot every time it happens and report it - but keep logging.

LakieLady · 07/12/2020 12:38

My council were very good when a neighbour reported another neighbour whose dog used to cry and howl all day long. They did a joint visit with the dog warden and someone from environmental health, explained that continued noise nuisance could lead to the owner being prosecuted and gave advice on how to stop the dog from being so distressed and work on its separation anxiety.

The dog is still there, but we rarely hear it now.

VeganVeal · 07/12/2020 12:41

@choosername1234

Anyone else think this was going to be about neighbours having noisy sex?
Yep and to be honest a bit disappointed now
giggly · 07/12/2020 14:02

I’ve completely forgotten about the barking and now totally focused on the bun fight with @Iminaglasscaseofemotion & @VenusTiger Grin

Popcornismandatory · 07/12/2020 14:13

Me too Grin

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/12/2020 14:39

@giggly, 😂 I'm not fighting. I just found it strange for someone to come on to a thread where the OP asks of they abu to report a dog that never stops barking, to be told by an "animal lover", they shouldn't report, and then given a list of the things that a dog needs to be well cared for Confused.

VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 16:56

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion you are something else.

Accused you of reacting? You did react.... I reacted to you picking on my post !! and you then accused me of being aggressive, seriously? I picked up something you said in your post because it didn't really make sense... yes, see, right there, you just admitted to picking up on something I said in my post - but you're saying you're just replying to my messages - again, what?! YOU picked up on my post - can't you see what is wrong here? You picked on my post and I'm the one replying - you started this and I still don't know what your problem is.
I didn't tell OP to call the police either Hmm

VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 17:00

@giggly very bizarre behaviour to quote my post and then make this comment: Not sure what being a animal lover has to do with this with this emoji:Hmm and then they say they're replying to MY messages, when it's clear it's the other way around. I don't get it - what's wrong with stating that I'd be more concerned with the treatment of the dog rather than the fact it's barking is a nuisance??

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 07/12/2020 17:10

@Venustiger 🙄 ok you win, no one should ever disagree with you, or question something you said that doesn't make sense.
I didn't say you did tell the OP to call the police.
I don't think I'm the one that's "something else" 🤣

FelicityPike · 07/12/2020 17:14

@VenusTiger you’re getting very worked up. Are you ok?

JamieLeeCurtains · 07/12/2020 17:14

This is like Venus Tiger King vs Carol Baskin Grin

CountreeGurl · 07/12/2020 17:31

Councils have statutory duties to investigate noise complaints so they have to take action. They will tell you to approach the neighbour first, but if you feel threatened you don't have to do this, but start the diary as soon as possible as these things can take a while. I'd also report to RSPCA

CountreeGurl · 07/12/2020 17:37

Also there's no time when you can legally cause a statutory noise nuisance in the UK, any time of the day if the noise is classed as nuisance you can complain. Dog barking usually is. The 11pm 'rule' is rubbish. You don't have to put up with noise, so don't

ChristmasSlayRide · 07/12/2020 17:47

Animal lover here.

The dog is clearly practicing it's carolling. Take it a roast dinner and talk this over properly.

Georgyporky · 07/12/2020 18:09

Animal lover here .
Doesn't matter how they're cooked.

VenusTiger · 07/12/2020 18:23

Animal lover here, don't blame the dog, blame the owners.

@Iminaglasscaseofemotion

Venustiger🙄 ok you win, no one should ever disagree with you, or question something you said that doesn't make sense.
I didn't say you did tell the OP to call the police.
I don't think I'm the one that's "something else"

what's this then? You told OP they should report to the police

@FelicityPike I'm absolutely fine, not worked up in the slightest - just can't understand why someone would pick on my post and not expect me to defend it - then carries on and on and then accuses me of being aggressive and replying to messages - all very weird. But I'm fine thanks.

AwaAnBileYerHeid · 07/12/2020 18:31

@VenusTiger

Animal lover here.... police is not the way - the poor dog needs either medical attention, love, a crate (open not locked, for security at night) or training. Poor dog OP, that's what I'd be upset about, the poor dog Sad
Yes and reporting to the police is a way for the appropriate authorities ie the RSPCA to get involved and ensure that the dog receives all these things.

@VenusTiger I'm not sure what being an 'animal lover' has to do with this. Surely if you were an animal lover then you'd advocate for the OP to contact the police to allow them to pass the case on to people who can make sure that the dog is OK, has the medical attention etc that it needs and deserves?
