I have taken covid pretty seriously. Nobody in our household is vulnerable but still taking it seriously regardless.

Now as we know Christmas is fast approaching and we can bubble with 2 other households but the thing is I’m in Cornwall so tier 1 so we can meet with 6 people in and out anyway - not that we are meeting with anyone really.

Naturally our families want to see dc at Christmas but I’m so anxious.

My in laws don’t take covid seriously. Mil and her husband (he’s actually vulnerable to the disease) aren’t too bad but their grown up children have never taken it seriously - large parties, gatherings, staying at friends houses during lockdown etc, also heard one of them say they don’t bother washing their hands much (I mean that’s cringe at the best of times). Two have travelled to a tier 3 area this week. My in laws always have someone staying at their house too. Very sociable bunch.

They can do what they want of course and it’s not my place to say but I’m not comfortable with spending time with them. They are also in tier 1 but as above 2 are currently staying at friends house in a tier 3 area (leisure purposes). Because we are in tier 1 they will be off to the pub and stuff at Christmas - which is allowed so can’t complain.

My family are a little better but still not great. They mix with a lot of people.

I’m aware that we can spend time with people somewhat but aibu to say no bugger it, I want to stay safe! Especially as my partners siblings travel around a lot.

Is it ott? They think I’m being paranoid but I just don’t want my children (who both have additional needs), myself and partner to be safe?

I’m thinking maybe mil and her husband could come over around Christmas so 4 of us and 2 of them would make 6! But say no to seeing the whole family on Christmas and similar with my family.

Our families are the type to get offended if we don’t see them but my god they don’t take this virus seriously. They take it to a new extreme!
