Thinking of knocking through our back reception room and kitchen (1930s semi) to create an open plan living space.
DH thinks it won't have the desired effect that I imagine it will because we wouldn't be extending so won't have the high ceilings / skylights due to having rooms above both rooms.
Would anyone be willing to share pics of your open plan spaces if you've had this done without extending outwards... Is a main aspect of it the high ceilings? Is it likely to feel dark and boxy without the extension? I must admit I've only ever seen them done with the extension so can't really picture it without. Surely if you had big sliding doors it would still feel airy and light?
