Or do you have to go out on the beat for a few years first? I think solving cases would be fun but wouldn't fancy wandering around council estates trying to pick kids up for selling weed. Or hitting the streets and intervening in punch ups.

“ All cops are bastards “

It’s something you get used to sadly.

@LardeeLar

Am I being incredibly dense here? What's ACAB?
Acab All cops are bastards.
fuckedandbombed · 06/12/2020 21:37

Clearly I'm less of an intolerant arse than vlad the insightful.

Oh and get used to the general hate if you want to join the cops in any role . That's always fun .

We’ve all met people like Vlad - empty vessels make the most noise.

@VladmirsPoutine
Are you for real? 🧐

Thinking about it I think I could negotiate with and outwit a psychopath and I think I could talk down a crazed brawler, but I don't think I'd be able to hold my nerve in the face of a gun wielding drug lord.

How about being a private detective? Sherlock Holmes never bothered pounding the beat!

@LardeeLar I have to ask, are you on wind up? You are fooling yourself if you think you can negotiate with or outwit a psychopath...by virtue of the fact they are a psychopath.

fuckedandbombed · 06/12/2020 21:44

I'm all for abolishing the police vlad . Let try it and see how that goes Grin

LardeeLar · 06/12/2020 21:44

So in your new world who would you call if someone broke into your house?

ACAB all cops are bastards. That’s the sedate side of insults they get

Professionally I work with police and I’ve found them overall to be empathic, and hardworking. With a niche soh

The two coppers who helped my client,drove her to hostel so she didn’t have to traipse about. Bought her groceries out their own money. Called me next day to see how she was getting on

Cops who supported my colleague during a welfare check

Sure there are some unfortunate characters whom really tarnish the reputation and well known miscarriage of justice and it’s right these shortcomings are revealed and it remains the minority

ACAB is really immature and silly. Bet the people saying it won't have been helping rape victims like a lot of the officers posting on here.

Most police officers will be doing their job because they want to help people and will be trying their best to do that under often difficult circumstances. There will be a few that aren't, just as with any other profession.

It's all about having the funding and the culture and the right structures in place to make the police force as good as it can be.

Anyway I was enjoying the discussion about DI detectives and the bleep test with input from actual officers.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 06/12/2020 21:49

You’re incorrigible @VladmirsPoutine. It’s a flow of insults with no content or context
Fortunately it’s not my role to convince you otherwise or disavow you of a strongly held opinion

fuckedandbombed · 06/12/2020 21:49

Oh vlad you're hurting my feelings.
Wink
