National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

AftonGlen · 06/12/2020 18:28

Home Alone 1 and 2 by a long shot. I also love cheesy daytime Christmas films that get shown on the likes of C5 or Sony movies

RedRec · 06/12/2020 18:30

Love Actually
White Christmas
Someone upthread said Paddington 2, which I didn't think was a Christmas film but absolutely love it too.

PinkFlamingo888 · 06/12/2020 18:32

The Grinch,
A Christmas Story,
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

And Klaus on Netflix is amazing!

boobot1 · 06/12/2020 18:32

Bishop's wife

Popcornismandatory · 06/12/2020 18:37

Any version of A Christmas Carol apart from the Muppets one Grin

I also enjoyed Last Christmas which landed on Sky Cinema a week or so ago

malificent7 · 06/12/2020 18:44

Just saw Bad Mom's Christmas last night...definately not cosy and traditional but my god it made me laugh!

@MrsW85

The Christmas chronicles is wonderful. Ive not watched the 2nd one yet but I absolutely loved the first one. Santa clause the movie, muppet Christmas Carol, polar express and the 3 santa clause films are favourites too.
Sorry to say this but the second Christmas Chronicles is utterly, utterly awful. I really wish I hadn’t bothered. The first one was very watchable though.

However, I did very much enjoy the cheese fest that is the Netflix Princess Switch Grin

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 06/12/2020 19:25

Ok, so does anyone have an extra TiVo box 🤣🤣

Havanananana · 06/12/2020 20:58

Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

Not strictly a Christmas film, as it is about getting home for Thanksgiving in the USA, but the sentiments are the same.

itsovernowthen · 06/12/2020 21:06

Love, Actually is my all-time favourite Christmas film. It doesn't feel like Christmas without it!

Scumble · 06/12/2020 21:13

Die Hard, without a doubt.

PressYouFurther · 06/12/2020 21:13

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

Not a film, but watching Gavin & Stacey’s Christmas special (the first one) has now become a tradition in our house.
Also The Office Christmas special.

Pimmsypimms · 06/12/2020 21:17

Krampus or Rare Exports are both great if you fancy some Christmas horror!

Hopeisnotastrategy · 06/12/2020 21:28

The Holiday. Sparks joy every time, and I am so envious of the fireplace in the kitchen!

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 06/12/2020 21:30

The Bishop’s Wife
It’s a Wonderful Life

Yes, both of those. Especially Rare Exports.👍
PinkFlamingo888 · 06/12/2020 22:41

Just watched Noelle on Disney+. Wouldn’t say it’s my favourite ever film but it was very good and I highly recommend it!

justanotherremainer · 06/12/2020 22:44

Shameless place marking!

TeamLannister · 06/12/2020 22:54

Christmas Chronicles 2 is really, really bad. First one is good fun, not a classic but worth a watch. But my god the second one is awful.

Rosebel · 06/12/2020 23:19

I have a few favourites Home Alone 1&2, Miracle on 34th Street, Muppets Christmas Carol and Father Christmas the cartoon.

Inkanta · 07/12/2020 05:41

Family Stone

TrufflyPig · 07/12/2020 05:50

Muppet Christmas Carol. I'd go as far as to say it's even the best adaptation of the book ever made!

@Inkanta

Family Stone
I watched that the other night, I've seen it a few times but I felt like I really fell out with it this time. What a fucking awful family! SJP is awful, but not awful enough to warrant the bullying she gets. And Rachel McAdams is just a horrific bitch. None of them deserved the endings they got, there is no happily ever after in that situation for any of them.
