🙈
I grew up with this and it just doesn't feel like Christmas time (or a new year) without it

Polar Express is nice and obviously Home alone makes an appearance.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 06/12/2020 17:07

Can't pick a favourite but this is our list which we watch in the run up to Christmas

Die hard
Love actually
National lampoons Christmas vacation
Elf
Muppets Christmas carol
Home Alone 1 and 2

OH watches it's a wonderful life, on his own. I think it's a bit shit

JohannaSpyri · 06/12/2020 17:09

Deck the Halls, National Lampoons, Scrooge (1970 musical version)
Some of the Christmas Royle Family episodes are brilliant too

LemmysAceCard · 06/12/2020 17:10

The Christmas Chronicles, brilliant film.

It’s a wonderful life also

stanski · 06/12/2020 17:20

Home alone 1&2!
The Holiday

lunasunshine · 06/12/2020 17:28

Love Actually and It’s a Wonderful Life. I have to watch both in December or it just doesn’t feel like Christmas!

Also, Last Christmas (which came out last year I think?) was a nice watch. Not the best film in the world but I enjoyed it! Smile

BadEyeBri · 06/12/2020 17:45

Bad Santa

FridayNightAtTheBronze · 06/12/2020 17:49

Santa Claus The Movie (1985)

Absolute classic.

ScienceSensibility · 06/12/2020 17:53

Meet Me In St Louis is the perfect Christmas film, never been beaten.

It’s a Wonderful Life is a close second.

Love Actually is pants, with the honourable exception of Emma Thompson’s acting in what I call the Joni Mitchell scene. Her performance was heart breaking, if not particularly Christmassy.

katy1213 · 06/12/2020 17:53

The Bishop's Wife. Can't beat the old ones.

MustBeThin · 06/12/2020 17:54

Best Christmas film ever is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Watch it every single year.[ grin]

Muppet Christmas Carol. Fabulous songs and so festive.

TheHelpfulHiker · 06/12/2020 18:02

My favourite is an 80s film called A Christmas Story. I had to get it on dvd a few years ago as it's hard to find but an absolute classic!

newnewnewbuild · 06/12/2020 18:02

I love love love The Santa Clause (the Tim Allen one)

I used to watch it all year long as a kid

Ukholidaysaregreat · 06/12/2020 18:04

Gremlins! Muppets Christmas Carol.

JorisBonson · 06/12/2020 18:07

Santa Claus - The Movie. Even though I am 36 years old.

MenaiMna · 06/12/2020 18:16

A Christmas Story (1983)
"You'll put your eye out kid"
"It's a major award"
Every minute is a gift

TrickorTreacle · 06/12/2020 18:21

For me it's the Snowman.

In Die Hard 1 and 2, I regard the time of the year as insignificant and that the crux of the 2 films are about the hijackings of a building and a plane.

In the other films mentioned in this thread, Christmas is more relevant, so I agree with those.

Nymerialuna · 06/12/2020 18:22

Arthur Christmas
Muppets Christmas Carol
The Holiday

Also highly recomment Last Christmas

hstredhead · 06/12/2020 18:24

The Muppets Christmas Carol! Every. Single. Time. Muppets, songs and Michael Caine - what more could you want?!
