We are more than likely moving to French speaking Switzerland next year and DH has just heard that DS's name means "idiot" in French.

DH has suggested using DS's second name. I think that would be confusing for everyone, especially DS.

Any ideas? And can anyone tell me if Connor really does mean "idiot" in French.

When I was living in France there was another English lad there called Connor and noone took any notice of his name-don't think anyone even thought of the Connor/connard asociation tbh, or if they did noone took it further. hth

Ok, I am probably obsessing about details at the moment, I am a bit nervous about the whole thing. And impatient for the decision to be made, I feel like I am in limbo at the moment.
