Normally at Christmas me and my dh and kids go to my parents on Christmas day and his parents on boxing day, however this year due to covid I've said we are having just the 4 us due to my littlest one being on the shielding list ( currently shielding at the moment due to being in tier 4 in Scotland) my parents completely understand but my MIL(who works in a hospital) is now moaning at my dh, that I'm trying to push her out and ruin Christmas, Aibu to want to keep my little one safe

This should be a joint decision that your DP takes full responsibility for with his mum, rather than blame being put into you. YANBU and it's very unfair of MIL to layer the guilt on.

I should add that my partner agrees with the decision and he is also high risk too

Cut her some slack she’s had a bloody hard year in her job - and she’s still going through it. I understand why you want Christmas to yourselves this year (and that’s perfectly reasonable), but be kind about it. Who will she be with?

She will be with her husband and other son and grandparents (3 households)
