I have to fly from the US to spend xmas with family (including 87 yr old mum)in the UK and with Covid I just don't want to do it but family are really making me feel guilty for not wanting to making the effort

I wouldn't do it tbh. Everyone should stay safely where they are.

I don’t understand why family make family feel guilty for keeping everyone safe. There is no way I would want my family flying over from the states in the middle of a pandemic. I’m sorry they are making you feel that way. Please stay home.

I didn't know you were even allowed to fly over from USA atm. Wouldn't you have to quarantine for 2 weeks when you got here which would make the trip more or less impossible, unless you don't have a job or dependants.

Just say no and that its not safe or appropriate at the moment. If they want to talk about making effort then tell them to get on a plane themselves!

Thanks all. I have dual citizenship UK & US so I can enter the UK and the new Test and Release would allow me to isolate for just 5 days providing the test is negative.
But you've confirmed my thoughts - it's a crazy idea.
