John Lewis Cheadle

Shamelessly posting for traffic.

Has anyone been there since it reopened this week? Was it heaving? Was there queues to get in? Will it be an unpleasant experience if I go? I'm clinically extremely vulnerable so want to make an informed decision. I'm unlikely to go but want more info before I make that final decision.

No major shopping planned, more a case of it we see something we like (which we always do) but nothing specific. We haven't been since last February.

Thank you 🎄

Have you tried calling the shop itself and asking? That would probably be a good first step.

LaMainDeFatima · 05/12/2020 12:35

Following shamelessly

FestiveFannyGallops · 05/12/2020 12:35

I've emailed them but they couldn't tell me much. There's no shopping hour for elderly or vulnerable though.

We'd be going on Friday morning around 10.30.

No queues, not especially busy. Ditto JL Trafford centre, and the Trafford centre itself. We have been to both locations twice so far and we have been astonished by how quiet they have been. We were expecting them to be heaving.

What are his redeeming points OP?

Have no actual knowledge of this non AIBU so answering a generic answer of a normal one.

Twice so far since reopening on Wednesday I mean, not since March!

OP is wondering if she was BU to ask what the shopping experience at John Lewis Cheadle is like. Turns out, she wasn’t being unreasonable at all and I hope she has a lovely time getting out of the house Smile
FestiveFannyGallops · 05/12/2020 12:40

@FridayWineTime what days and times did you go?

OP posts:
FridayWineTime · 05/12/2020 12:53

Evenings between 5-8pm, so you would think it would be packed after everyone had finished work!

slashlover · 05/12/2020 13:02

Maybe asking on a local facebook might be more helpful?

FestiveFannyGallops · 05/12/2020 14:11

I'm not on Facebook. What Friday says is reassuring though.

Can you rearrange your trip to go on a weekday evening? It’s never busy then.

tttigress · 05/12/2020 15:04

To limit exposure I would go in the first half hour when the shop opens, or the last half hour when the shop closes.

FestiveFannyGallops · 08/12/2020 08:15

Shameless bump for more up to date info. I'll email the store too.

Has anyone been in the Sainsburys next door to the Cheadle John Lewis? Do they have a rule where couples can't go in together, with one trolley?

GabriellaMontez · 08/12/2020 13:34

No queues and it's not heaving. But yes it is busy.

FestiveFannyGallops · 08/12/2020 13:55

I've booked a shopping slot to avoid any queue Smile

OP posts:
FestiveFannyGallops · 11/12/2020 14:35

No queue but by midday it was as busy as I'd like it to get. Very warm in there and of course the masks make that worse.

PP Sainsbury's are saying trying to shop alone if possible and there's a limit to how many in store but there was no queue to get in up between 11 and 1 today.

I was underwhelmed by the Christmassyness but I'm glad we went.
