My cat has fur, deal with it or don't come in.

VinylDetective · 06/12/2020 18:38

You have a bin liner in and just tie it up and drop it in the wheelie bin

You do. I don’t want to deal with other people’s period products.

LaceyBetty · 06/12/2020 18:39

@VinylDetective

even if you for whatever reason think it's wrong to have a bathroom bin, do you not give the slightest thought to your guests?

No. Because I don’t want to clear other people’s floss, period products and other unpleasant rubbish up. They can put it in the kitchen bin.

I would never make my guests carry their rubbish through my house for all to see! I will empty the bin without looking at what is in it or touching it. Just like I wash the sheets and towels they've used etc. What is the point of having people visit if you don't want to deal with them?

This! I wouldn't dream of leaving used period stuff in someone else's bin. So it's irrelevant to me whether someone has a bin in their own bathroom - I wouldn't use it.
LaceyBetty · 06/12/2020 18:42

What would you do with it? Put it in your handbag?

LaceyBetty · 06/12/2020 18:43

That was for @tigger1001

Ddot · 06/12/2020 18:45

Mellow birds coffee 🤢

Ddot · 06/12/2020 18:47

Sticky leather sofa, my arms were retracting with yuck factor

I carry nappy bags when on so would put it there and take it to the outside bin.

Wouldn't leave it for someone else to take out to the bin.

tigger1001 · 06/12/2020 18:50

And to be honest, I can't say I've seen bins in my friends bathrooms. It doesn't seem a common thing in my circle. My parents don't have a bathroom bin, and neither does my mil.

Our bathroom is quite small - floor space is at a premium.

Ddot · 06/12/2020 18:53

Air fresheners
I really hate them. If your house stinks, clean and open the windows. Have one in the toilet for gut problems by all means but dont spray me with pine poison thanks

carlaCox · 06/12/2020 19:10

First time I read this I thought "wow I had no idea cleaning the windows stops your house from smelling!"

(Can you tell I'm not very good at cleaning...?!)

lilstarr99 · 06/12/2020 19:22

My MIL (who I love dearly actually) is literally snapping at your ankles to take your shoes off before you’ve even crossed the threshold (we also have a shoeless house, so I have no idea why she’s so aggressive about it!) She also insists on washing up the dishes properly, using washing up liquid and hot water and then loading them into the dishwasher - “to sterilise”! FFS!

I couldn’t live without a bathroom bin!

Harls1969 · 06/12/2020 19:29

@linsey2581

What’s wrong with not having a bin in the bathroom??? I’ve never had a bin in the bathroom
I haven't either. Haven't got the room and emptying it would be another job for me, whereas now DH and DS put any rubbish in the kitchen bin.
Susanwouldntlikeit · 06/12/2020 19:30

Re the bathroom bin - I have never put sanpro in someone’ bathroom bin!!! Have always had plastic bags to later dispose of.

islockdownoveryet · 06/12/2020 19:44

I'll be honest I can't recall ever disposing san pro in someone's house I'm sure it's happened though. But no way would I take with me to dispose of nor would I expect anyone else to .
I wouldn't even notice if someone had used my bathroom bin to dispose of said items either , like I said I just tie the bag and bin it I don't look .
I think it would be awful for a guest to worry what to do with them if I didn't have a bin .

RasperryInAMelon · 06/12/2020 19:46

My mum has a bag of dead batteries that she's going to recycle... except the bags been there for approximately 850million years...

Her a DF also insist on having the TV on 900 decibels in the smallest living room that's packed with way too much furniture for the size of the room

RasperryInAMelon · 06/12/2020 19:47

They also decided to paint their living room dark red last year - including the ceiling which means it's pitch black in there 90% of the time, yet DM looses her shit if there are lights on during the day because 'it's daytime and looks like Blackpool illuminations in here...' 🙈

LaceyBetty · 06/12/2020 19:50

I'm stressing now because I'm sure I've appropriately wrapped sanpro and disposed of it in my friends' bathroom bins. I feel that must surely be better than carrying a little nappy bag through their houses (and often past the dining table as the wretched loos are usually off the dining room) and putting it in my handbag.

browneyes77 · 06/12/2020 19:51

People who don’t use net curtains or blinds (oh hello Mr Burglar - please look right through my window at all the things you can steal)

Houses with no lamps - so you have darkness or the big light. No in-between

Houses that are too hot
Houses that are too cold

Leather sofas. They’re cold to sit on in the winter and you stick to them in the summer

Being offered a drink and then having no table next to your chair to put it on.

browneyes77 · 06/12/2020 19:54

Oh and regarding the having no table to put your drink on.

When I used to go to my friends (parents) house in my younger days, there was no table so you were told it was ok to pop your empty tea mug on the floor next to the sofa. At which point the dog would then come in and put his nose in the mug to lick out the tea residue. Turned my stomach 🤢

Skysblue · 06/12/2020 20:00

Automatic air freshener puffing away in the corner of the room. It makes me cough and it does not smell good. I had to actually make up and excuse and leave someone’s house after only ten minutes because the air freshener was making me cough so much.

marton4710 · 06/12/2020 20:01

How many families are made to stand for the National Anthem for the Queens Christmas Speech? We were till quite recently.

Skysblue · 06/12/2020 20:02

Oh and not turning light on as evening falls! Gives me a headache straining to see across the room. I did ask if we could turn on the lights so they put on a tiny reading lamp in the corner of the room which did not help with my eyestrain at all. I couldn’t work out if they were extremely tight or cash or thought it was atmospheric

SIL does this. I hate not being able to see properly.
