To ask about vygotsky?

vygotskyyyyyyy · 03/12/2020 21:42

Can anybody help? What other theorists have been influenced by Vygotsky?
I can only think of Bruner and Bonfrenbrenner. Maybe a bit of Bandura as well?
But is there anybody else? I know Bruner is the main one.

Jean Piaget is a big name in learning theories. Could perhaps look at the Montessori movement?

FlibbertyGiblets · 03/12/2020 21:55

Piaget influenced him iirc?

FlibbertyGiblets · 03/12/2020 21:55

X post

vygotskyyyyyyy · 03/12/2020 21:57

I'm looking for theorists after Vygotsky so Piaget wouldn't be included would he as they are both similar times?
Montessori has a bit of constructionist theory to it so I could look into that.

Scarby9 · 03/12/2020 22:06

His work on scaffolding and modelling is so central and mainstream now that it is hard to pick out individual influencees, isn't it?

stickssss · 03/12/2020 22:08

Erik Erikson - stages of psychosocial development

DynamoKev · 03/12/2020 22:13

PutTheBathOnPlease · 03/12/2020 22:26

How is this an AIBU? You are BU to expect most people to understand the question!

toomuchicecream · 03/12/2020 22:30

You can do a reverse search on google scholar. Put in one of Vygotsky’s key papers - you can then click on ‘cited by’ -that will at least tell you who has quoted him.

practicallyperfectwithprosecco · 03/12/2020 22:31

It's a long time since I had to write about learning theories but I remember writing about Ausubel too

All those essays I wrote on "what is learning" and I can't honestly say when I'm planning lessons my first thoughts are what would Piaget or Vygotsky suggest

Mamabem · 03/12/2020 22:32

Woods?

parietal · 03/12/2020 22:38

are you trying to get mumsnet to write your essay for you? give us the title & we will write the whole thing. of course, it will then get pulled up by the plagiarism software ...

silverraven123 · 03/12/2020 22:38

Barbara Rogoff?

vygotskyyyyyyy · 03/12/2020 22:40

@parietal how is asking for advice plagerism? I have asked for some suggestions because I wanted a few ideas of people to research, in the same way I would ask peers, teachers etc. for advice. Nowhere here have I asked someone to write a paragraph explaining the theory, I was just asking for some names

How about the Reggio Emilia approach?

Whatnext2018 · 03/12/2020 23:12

Is this for an Early years/teaching degree/masters?

jerometheturnipking · 03/12/2020 23:13

Rogoff’s work on scaffolding was influenced by Vygorsky.

Whatnext2018 · 03/12/2020 23:13

Steiner, Waldorf, Maria Montessori, Piaget

ViciousJackdaw · 03/12/2020 23:14

IIRC, Vygotsky has been revisited recently - search 'Vygotsky revision' and that should give some pointers. I take it you're doing some branch of Psychology?

jerometheturnipking · 03/12/2020 23:14

Stupid fat thumbs. Lev will haunt me now for that 😕
