So folks I am late thirties, married with three teens one who has sen. I work in care and have been accepted onto an NHS degree. My mum is very unhappy about it and says I am giving up a well paid job for the unknown. She is also worried about me using a moped for a 22 mile commute. All I ever hear when she calls or visits is how I am making a big mistake and the kids will suffer or I will die on the bike. AIBU to want to have a career in this way ??

I think late 30’s is key here..... tell your dm ‘thanks for your thoughts, I’ll consider my options’ and then ask her to not keep retreating herself!
