So today is the momentous day when Electoral college votes are cast.
And there will be nothing to see until Jan 6th!

This is the momentous day on which Electoral college votes are cast, somewhat overshadowed by also being the momentous day on which the first of the covid vaccines is rolled out for health workers and the very elderly in care homes.

Both matter, and it's hard for me to work out which matters more at this point; both were going to happen some time, after all...

EC meetings start around 10 am EST, although the voting will probably start later. Hawaii will be the final state with their votes at 7pm EST. The 'deciding' vote will most likely be California's at 5pm EST.

President-Elect Biden will be speaking this evening around 8pm EST, after the results are in.

WaPo has a live tracker behind a paywall, but it let me access it in private browsing for those who want to keep tabs on things.

Trump and his moronic "base" should have been tackled head on. But because it sold papers and provided clickbait, it suited everyone not to.

As one commentator pointed out, you have millions of people who haven't the faintest clue how the constitution works, claiming the constitution has been violated by the Supreme Court.

The parallels to our own knuckle dragging media enabled "Enemies of the people" media oh-so-faux ignorance over our own constitution are too close for coincidence.

Personally, although I agree he didn't write it, I call bullshit.

They left the door open wide for his hand-picked butt-buddies to get the vaccine, many of them likely on the QT. The 'rank and file' will be SoL.

As far as him 'graciously' not getting the vaccine, he's had the fucking disease! I know that the length of immunity due to actually having Covid is currently under question, but if I'd had the disease and had access to daily testing (fuck, for him it's probably HOURLY testing if he wants it) I'd be willing to stage a PR stunt too.

On another subject, DH is going mad watching the EC vote 'ticker' on CNN. I keep explaining that a lot of 'Trumpy' states are in EST so their voting will be earlier than ours (CA). But I've finally had to turn it off. He's sure that somehow by 'wicked hook or evil crook' he's going to 'steal' the EC vote. I told him to have a drink (or a spliff) and just relax.
