Here it is.
Thanks @BruceandNosh for the title.

And still we persist.

"Statement of Justice Alito, with whom Justice Thomas joins: In my view, we do not have discretion to deny the filing of a bill of complaint in a case that falls within our original jurisdiction. See Arizona v. California, 589 U. S. _(Feb. 24, 2020) (Thomas, J., dissenting). I would therefore grant the motion to file the bill of complaint but would not grant other relief, and I express no view on any other issue.
"

^Above from the order.

Per CNN, there was no dissent. The above statement means that Alito and Thomas would have allowed the filing, but then would have denied the case.

Apologies for lack of link. Too excited!
Thank you to @AcrossthePond55 for providing it.

Now.
What's the next batshit move for Trump?

BruceAndNosh · 11/12/2020 23:58

I hope to god they've removed all breakables from the Oval Office.
Things will be thrown

No problem. Just the other day someone had to post a link for me as I was over excited.

Next step(s):

1-Try to bribe/blackmail enough 'faithless electors' for Monday's EC vote. This is extremely unlikely, to the point of impossibility.

2-Get legislators to lodge written objections during the 'reading of the votes' during 6 Jan's Joint Session. It's likely that objections will be lodged but IMO they'll either fail on procedural grounds or will not get enough votes to pass.

He’s posted a weird advert about voter fraud on twitter. I still think he should be arrested for sedition. Meanwhile another black man is murdered by the state. And I wonder how the SCOTUS judges are living with themselves for that tonight.

Good!
The rats are abandoning the ship, from that article
First lady Melania Trump, meanwhile, has begun overseeing shipments of family furniture and art to Mar-a-Lago. And Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are in the final stages of purchasing a plot of land within a Miami enclave known for its privacy and high net worth residents.

Rumour has it that the Scrotuses & Javanka are going to make the Palm Beach area their home(s) as they are personae non gratae in Manhattan. Rumour also has it that the true 'creme de la creme' of 'Old Palm Beach' society wants nothing to do with them, either.

In other words, their time at the table of the 'popular kids' is over.

Faintly. Smile

lionheart · 12/12/2020 02:15

He really pinned his hopes on his SCOTUS.

Kaitlan Collins (CNN)
@kaitlancollins

'Several Republicans who signed their names to the amicus brief for the Texas lawsuit understood it would likely quickly be shot down by the Supreme Court and only viewed it, like many other things in Trump's world, as a loyalty test. But Trump told people he thought he'd prevail.'

That's hilarious!!

I'm off to bed humming the chorus of Brenda Lee's "It's My Party and I'll Cry If I Want to".

TheNorthWestPawsage · 12/12/2020 07:30

Good news for the US - thankfully. Feeling grim about the U.K. but hey ho! I'll take this win as proof that common sense (and sensible people) do prevail.

Anniegetyourgun · 12/12/2020 07:39

I would have thought that, but the figure of twenty-six threw me, because that can't mean the Supreme Court, can it?

Two possibilities there: deliberate hyperbole, or a figure he plucked from somewhere else entirely.

Re Judge Alito's opinion, I wonder whether his intention was to open the door just a crack, so that spurious cases like this could be given a smidgen of credibility and maybe considered in the future; or whether he would have liked a chance to say something scathing about the case but was denied because it wasn't even worth that much paper!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 12/12/2020 07:45

Time for Trump to realise that a soon-to-be ex-Pres may not come with as much power and influence as he'd hoped. Too bad the WH party wasn't fancy dress, he could have given the made-to-measure orange jumpsuit a whirl.

Towards the end of this CNN report, evidence that some Trumps can smell the covfefe...

Just seen that you'd already spotted that the realists rats were abandoning the cause. Smile

So funny. I can just imagine a trumpy tantrum up in the bedroom.

I'm feeling v grim about UK too, depressing.

boatyardblues · 12/12/2020 08:55

DH is currently ranting about the stray capitalisation in Trump’s tweets about the Scotus Texas decision. It’s one of his pet peeves.

It would be so easy for the innocent Trump just to get rid of this suit by providing a DNA sample. I can't think why he would be unwilling to do that.

BruceAndNosh · 12/12/2020 09:26

I don't how these procedures work, but I wish SCOTUS could have given a stronger put down of the suit. Now Trumpers are claiming they only lost on the technicality of Standing but their case was strong.

Not surprisingly, Trump is now tweet-trashing SCOTUS for their lack of Wisdom and Courage.
Ellis is insisting 14th December now unimportant, and 6th January is now the DATE!
McNinny (in her Press Sec role) has not posted anything on twitter apart from a glowing biography piece from Fox which is clearly the start of her job hunting
