Prosecutors have recently interviewed employees of President Trump’s lender and insurance brokerage, in the latest indication that he still faces the potential threat of criminal charges once he leaves office.

'Trump's presidency ends as it began. Without decency and without dignity.'
(Taken from the DerSpiegel article)

I have to say I'm beyond shocked at the rush-through of executions. Is this how he wants to be remembered?
I find it sickening.
One of the people being executed is a woman who suffers from severe MH issues

If you don't want tyrants to abuse the death penalty, don't have the death penalty. There's a certain sickening hypocrisy in trying to define "good" and "bad" executions that I would want no part of.

Ffs.
Two states that don't exist are trying to throw out the votes of people in four states that do.
Yup somone has filed on behalf of New California and New Nevada....

State prosecutors in Manhattan have interviewed several employees of President Trump’s bank and insurance broker in recent weeks, according to people with knowledge of the matter, significantly escalating an investigation into the president that he is powerless to stop.

The interviews with people who work for the lender, Deutsche Bank, and the insurance brokerage, Aon, are the latest indication that once Mr. Trump leaves office, he still faces the potential threat of criminal charges that would be beyond the reach of federal pardons.

Could that be trolling on a national level.

If so ... respect !!!!

What can you think about someone who tweets

"Now it turns out that the Democrats want the Pack the Court with 26 Justices. This would be terrible, and must be stopped. Even Justice RBG was strongly opposed!"

when the United States Senate confirmed RBG by a 96–3 vote on August 3, 1993?

lionheart · 11/12/2020 20:20

www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2020-12-11/republicans-democrats-trump-politics-ideology

'Anyone who has been following the current Republican-led effort to undermine democracy and orchestrate a coup has probably asked themselves, “When are Republicans going to stand up to Trump and admit that Joe Biden won the election?”

I’m sorry to say, that’s the wrong question, because the answer is never.'

Anniegetyourgun · 11/12/2020 21:35

Asking, I read that as saying RBG was strongly opposed to the principle of packing the Court, not that anyone was opposed to confirming her. But since when did one come to expect clarity from you-know-who?

PerkingFaintly · 11/12/2020 22:18

Oh. I was trying to come up with some intelligent to say about the continued personal hounding and vitriol by the Leave camp towards Carole Cadwalladr. I haven't kept track of the twists in the libel case she's defending against... er, is it Banks? Sorry, I know I should check and précis BUT before I lose myself down that rabbit hole...

There was a vitriolic article against her a couple of weeks ago by Douglas Murray, effectively denouncing her as an Enemy of the People, DailyWail-stylee. www.spectator.co.uk/article/carole-cadwalladr-should-now-return-her-orwell-prize

I hadn't realised the Douglas Murray so beloved of some on the FWR board ("He's so spot on and his books should be required reading for all in the fight for women's rights, though I'm a teeny bit puzzled he doesn't seem to have understood feminism or women's experiences..."), was hanging around with Steve Bannon. twitter.com/peterjukes/status/1333603328656371712

Anyway, it suddenly dawned on me that I hadn't recently seen a particular FWR regular who is a devoted Murray acolyte.

So I took a look.

Now maybe that poster has namechanged (although the style is very recognisable and I've been on threads where I'd absolutely expect to see them). But their last post was 21 Oct.

They disappeared days before the election.

So, not quite like the posters who vanished literally over the election night in 2016. Might be nothing; might be something. Don't know.

But I just wanted to put a pin in it, as Rachel Maddow would say.

I would have thought that, but the figure of twenty-six threw me, because that can't mean the Supreme Court, can it?

lionheart · 11/12/2020 23:15

Noted PerkingFainting.

www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/109-republicans-election-amicus-brief-1102531/

'One hundred and twenty-six House Republicans, more than half the caucus, have signed onto an amicus brief in a Texas lawsuit that is asking the courts to invalidate millions of votes from four swing states won by President-elect Joe Biden. Despite there being no evidence of widespread voter fraud, these elected officials joined the Texas attorney general in asking the Supreme Court to reject the certified election results from Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin.'
