When to take a pregnancy test?

I took a pregnancy test and it came back positive, my 12 weeks was going to be 5 November 2020 but I miscarried at 5 weeks 4 days. I think I am pregnant again now but I don't want to take the test until it's over 6 weeks, (according to nhs pregnancy calculator), (scientific papers suggest 1 in 4 miscarry before 6 weeks, 3 in 10 before 12 weeks etc. I think the odds are ) is this silly to wait to take the test? I was disappointed last time and don't really want to feel like that again...

I’m sorry for your loss. YANBU at all. Are you already taking folic acid? Good idea to start just in case. Fingers crossed for you.

Hi, yes I have been taking folic acid supplements everyday since June 2020, thank you.

To be honest I'd test.

I had recurrent miscarriage and my earliest loss was at 5w 5d (latest over 82) but without me testing then that pregnancy would not have been on my record and I wouldn't have been referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic *

If you are interested in stats then here is one for you. Having one miscarriage puts you at no greater risk to have another (yes the stats are still 1 in 4 but sadly that is what it is)

  • this was many years ago and I have 3 children now.

What will be and all that.

Best of luck and sorry for your recent loss.

  • sorry my latest loss was over 8w
