Work Dinner

Right (dons hard hat)

Under the new regs, is there any way for 10+ of us to have a dinner and drinks in Tier 2?

We are in a bubble and all have to have regular tests.

What I don't want is a quick (substantial) meal and not to be allowed a semi-relaxed evening with hopefully many drinks. Whilst alcohol would be involved, it would be principally work-related.

Anyone got an idea?

Have a 'staff meeting' at work?

FluffyPJs · 30/11/2020 19:49

I should have also said order in the food

islockdownoveryet · 30/11/2020 19:52

Well you won't be able to go out anywhere, you have to be in the same household and they will ask you .

TillyTopper · 30/11/2020 20:17

Order food into work? I think that's the only way.

Bookworming · 01/12/2020 09:00

Uber eats and 25% off six bottles of wine at Sainsbury's are your best options.

MummaGiles · 01/12/2020 09:05

Yep I was going to say the same as everyone else. Order in to eat at your place of work. Not ideal but the only loophole.

Fluffybutter · 01/12/2020 09:08

Nope .
I concur with the other posters , order in at work

nosswith · 01/12/2020 09:09

Not in any restaurant and pub. Only if you have things delivered to your place of work.

You could decide not to hold an event- have you any idea how the other people feel about this? Not having one may spare anxiety for those who will be spending Christmas with older relatives.

Pechanga · 01/12/2020 09:20

It's bending (breaking) the rules, do you know how your staff feel about this? Aren't people trying to limit extra contact with people / stay safe and keep family members safe at Christmas? Socialising with colleagues would not be my priority.

Why not put off your staff party until the summer and have a boozy BBQ.

thosetalesofunexpected · 01/12/2020 09:33

Hi Op how do your rest of work colleagues about the idea of a upcoming works do event then?(does everybody feel Cormfotable with this idea then?

If they are cormfortable have a socially distanced Xmas at work or if its a nice day weather wise, why not have a socially distanced picnic somewhere outdoors, somewhere nice??

Or wait until next year, have a big bash like a summer barbeque idea then???

HedgehogintheFog · 01/12/2020 09:36

Team meeting with food and drink ordered in I think would be technically legal. Anything else is breaking the rules, and even this is bending them over backwards.

Crocky · 01/12/2020 09:39

If it’s anything like my workplace alcohol on the premises is an absolute no.
