To be pissed off with the postwoman

I live in a townhouse. So 3 floors. Knock at the door. Was already standing and on the middle floor. Walked/jogged quickly to get down stairs to answer the door (I'm 6 months pregnant so careful but not slow). For the postwoman to tell me "I need to be faster at answering the door. "Angry
Took me less than a minute to get to the door.

AIBU thinking that she's a cheeky cow and out of order for saying that?!

I'm working from home. Not standing by the front door all day, incase I might get something delivered.

I always give beers to the bin men at Christmas and I'd normally do the same or wine for the postman/women. Well I won't be leaving anything out for her this year!

Our postie leaves a card when you are in and doesn't even knock.
*watched from window more than a couple of times..

What did you reply?

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 30/11/2020 13:02

Put a sign on your door. "Heavily pregnant, please wait after knocking."

But yes, cheeky.

DecTheTreeTime · 30/11/2020 13:10

@WorraLiberty I apologised, and explained I wasn't on the ground floor. It was only after I shut the door, went back upstairs and the microwave was still going that I realised I couldn't possibly of taken that long to answer the door.

What a cheeky cow. Definately agree with previous poster about putting a sign up.

That’s very cheeky! You should have replied she needed to have a little more patience!

Although at least your postwoman rings to door bell, our delivery people just chuck ours on the doorstep and leave (and a camera on the door so can see!) They once left a really expensive present on the doorstep in a massive storm! I was waiting in for them but they didn’t even knock!! Needless to say, it was completely ruined!

GameSetMatch · 30/11/2020 13:31

She may of had a bad day, we all have them, she may apologise next time you see her. Our post lady just opens our door throws the parcel in and shouts that she’s left a parcel, doesn’t even bother knocking 🙄 to be fair I’d rather her do that than have me trail to the depot.

Inthemuckheap · 30/11/2020 13:35

Maybe she saw how pregnant you are and was joking? If not, she's being a bit of an idiot (unless you are one of those people who have a big bow on your front door blocking the letterbox!)

stovetopespresso · 30/11/2020 14:27

postie very unreasonable and grumpy but hey

helloxhristmas · 30/11/2020 14:28

Crap from them but I do think they must be under ridiculous pressure to deliver x amount in x amount of time. Doesn't make it right.

Yeahnahmum · 01/12/2020 03:24

You are lucky she even waited that long!!! And calling her a cow is not very nice op
Where I live they dont even bother knocking and just put a "sorry we've missed you /you werent home, please pick your parcel up at the postoffice" (even though you were home all day long) now THAT is cheeky.

Whar the postie sad sounds a tiny bit rough, but Imagine if she had to wait that long for all her customers .. you can understand her point of view too right

Anyway. Be happy you got your parcel. And maybe dont be so quick to say "ugh you are not getting anything for christmas now". Sounds a bit bitter. For a one time event? Nah. Just cut her some slack.

Northofsomewhere · 01/12/2020 05:58

I think things have probably just gotten to your postie, they're working a lot of hours already and with more people ordering online and Xmas around the corner I imagine things are pretty stressful. She was rude but is it possible you only heard the second knock and not the first so she was waiting longer than you realise? It's not an excuse for being rude but could it be a possibility? I do think you're taking it a bit too personally and if she's not your normal postie (we have 3 that regularly work around here) than she might be worried about getting everyone done in time, I just think there's a reason she was impatient beyond her being an arsehole.

itchyfinger · 01/12/2020 06:02

That's nuts, how were you meant to know she was going to knock? What if youd been on the toilet/on a call.

Delamalama · 01/12/2020 06:06

Very cheeky! But, as a delivery driver who is absolutely rushed off my feet at the moment perhaps she was a bit stressed? I now know those who take longer to answer the door and it's always the same ones. No idea why. If do know they're in I just put on the doorstep and go

Delamalama · 01/12/2020 06:07

I do knock by the way but if Ii hear them coming I put on doorstep and go.
