To think this carpentry quote is ridiculous?

I asked a carpenter to quote for a tv cabinet like this one (just the base, not the shelves above) and his estimate was £3540. Ridiculous?

Depends on the area, timber used and intricacy. Get a couple of quotes maybe

Also, the curve increases the price a lot!

Suspect he doesn't want the job and that is the amount that would make it bearable!

Move on. Just get two or three other quotes

Over-pricing is what people do when they don't want the job!

We live in South East and paid slightly less for 2 inbuilt wardrobes (both large). Including shelves etc. Your quote is definitely too much.

Look around, you'll be surprised how much quotes differ.

As others have suggested. Also look to see if you can omit the curved wood. This will make it cheaper (and more attractive imo).

There is a lot of work in making that cabinet. If that quote included fitting and finishing it's in the ball park.
