Strictly-“The Judges” said in weird monotone voice- Lighthearted

Not sure if it’s just me but is anyone else irritated by the way Claudia and Tess say “The Judges” in the same monotone way when introducing them every single episode of Strictly? Is it just me who’s noticed it? They’ve done it for ages and much as I love Tess (struggle a bit with Claudia due to the bloody fringe and pale lipstick and the way she holds her hands).
I love Strictly, especially during lockdown when there’s bugger all else to watch. Maybe I just need to chill but my God, it grates on me (for a nanosecond).

I understand what you mean! Claudia can have an annoying manner sometimes and both of them say ' judges' in a weird way.
I actually like both of them on SCD but occasionally they can wind me up!
(I guess it's not an easy job presenting a live show and I'd be useless at it myself)

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 28/11/2020 22:13

They said it tonight too when they introduced ‘The Stars’ - it does irrationally annoy me. Why do they do it?

the80sweregreat · 28/11/2020 22:25

Tess is so beautiful and I feel such a slob watching strictly in my leggings and horrible hair that needs a cut whilst she rocks her off the shoulder numbers and killer heels and perfect hair ( ditto Claudia although her fringe looks like it may need a trim too soon )

MarieInternette · 28/11/2020 22:41

You’re right, they also do it when introduced “The Strictly Stars”. Grrrr!
Glad it’s not just me that gets irritated by them.

I always fast forward that bit anyway! But YABU to prefer Tess. She’s so annoying and cheesy, doesn’t react to the situation, just ploughs on with her pre-written lines. Claudia is the best.

Sparklingbrook · 28/11/2020 23:19

I literally watch the dances and results now. I can't be doing with Tess/Claudia and the stupid pre dance films.

I don't rate either TD or CW as presenters. I don't feel like either of them could cope if something went off script especially TD.

wizzler · 28/11/2020 23:25

Yanbu. Winds me up too. It sounds forced to me.. I wonder if they have to practise it!

I also don't like the faces Craig pulls when he does his little dance as he is introduced

I need to get out more!

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 28/11/2020 23:25

Nothing can be worse than Bruce bloody Forsyth.

I think Claudia seems a lot smarter and wittier: you know she'd be a great night out.

Well he's dead so...
the80sweregreat · 29/11/2020 09:43

I like Claudia and she might taking over the Saturday morning radio show on 2 which will be fun. She was a bit cagey with Zoe ball the other day about it but I hope she does.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 09:49

I love Zoe Ball. She could present the Saturday night show.
I don’t really think Tess’s role is that essential though. The couples could dance and get the judges scores without it.

the80sweregreat · 29/11/2020 10:00

Bruce Forsyth wasn't too bad on strictly.
I found him a bit irritating at times but he was a pro and could do the wise cracks and ad libs. An all rounder.
Not many presenters have that skill these days ( or maybe told not to?)

emilybrontescorsett · 29/11/2020 10:01

I think they both get a hard time. Do people critisice male presenters as harshly? I don't think so. Des O'Connor, Russel Hartey, Bruce Forsythe were all old men who seemed to sail through.
Eamon Holmes is another one who makes mistakes. Yet are people saying look how far he is and who is he wearing the same suit and shoes-AGAIN?
As for the prime minister bloody hell where do I begin? He talks utter bollocks. Perhaps concentrate on pulling him up over his constant errors and shit appearance.

the80sweregreat · 29/11/2020 10:06

Women always get a harder time of it : people criticized Judy more than Richard yet she was far better than him at interviews.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 10:06

Eammon Holmes is an awful presenter and I have said so many times on here. When BF presented SCD he also got regularly criticised for his terrible scripted gags and air of not knowing what was going on.

So yes, male presenters do get criticised. I just want a presenter male or female to be a safe pair of hands and have a relaxed presenting style. Not all auto cue and cringe.

the80sweregreat · 29/11/2020 10:10

Claudia is good as she can ad Lib if things go a bit wrong and is naturally funny.
Presenting anything live must be hard though.

StCharlotte · 29/11/2020 10:11

I went to a Strictly Christmas show recording and Bruce (who I had loathed) and Tess were absolutely brilliant off script. Both went right up in my estimation that day.

BTW did you see Vernon on I'm a Celeb saying about when his daughter asked "is Mummy Tess Daly?"? Sweeeeeet.

Anyway "the judges" drives me mad too.

Sparklingbrook · 29/11/2020 10:16

I think it must be easier to go 'off script' when it's being recorded it's the live bit that bothers me. A lot of presenters give me the feeling that if the autocue went off on live tv-rabbit in the headlights.

emilybrontescorsett · 29/11/2020 10:19

I also think it's great to have presenters who don't speak with RP.I
Anyway it must be quite limiting what they can actually say.
Read can hardly go with "And here we are again on another shit Saturday night. You'd much rather be down the pub getting pissed and copping off with that good looking shag piece, but unfortunately you have to tolerate this bunch of smarmy twats who nobody has any clue what they actually do. But tough shit."

2pinkginsplease · 29/11/2020 10:20

I’m not a fan of either of the presenters , they come across a bit cheesy and fake for me. Love the dancing and the pre recorded practice aswell as the judges so tolerate the presenters.

emilybrontescorsett · 29/11/2020 10:21

At least it's not Holly Willoughby and Phil Schofield. Now I would switch off if they were presenting.

Yes. Sigh. Dancing on Ice must be starting soon.

Although whatever you think of PS he's one of my 'could cope in any live crisis' presenters.

emilybrontescorsett · 29/11/2020 10:26

I stopped watching Dancing on Ice because of the pair of them.
