Reported Covid positive family for not isolating. AIBU?

A family in the area I live in have all tested positive for Covid. The mother has been quite open about this on social media. One of the teenagers has been out and about despite being positive.

The mother has let this slip on social media. She has been roundly attacked, but has built a web of lies to try to defend herself.

I have reported them. I suspect others have too. although none of us have admitted this to each other. Am I unreasonable?

No. YANBU. I hope they're fined.

Retiremental · 28/11/2020 21:02
Hmm
PixelatedLunchbox · 28/11/2020 21:04

I would too. They're idiots for not isolating, hope they get fined.

Rainbowx · 28/11/2020 21:08

No YANBU bloody selfish people!

Darkstar4855 · 28/11/2020 21:13

YANBU. They’re spreading a virus that could kill someone.

MadameBlobby · 28/11/2020 21:14

That’s terrible. YANBU

AntiHop · 28/11/2020 21:16

I hope they are fined. Selfish people.

Rarotonga2 · 28/11/2020 21:17

Do you really have to ask?! It's pretty obvious it is the responsible thing to have done and not unreasonable at all.

SuperCaliFragalistic · 28/11/2020 21:17

On these types of thread I'm usually in the myob camp but if they've actually tested positive they should all be staying home without a doubt. Reporting is reasonable in these circumstances.

40weekswithno2 · 28/11/2020 21:18

How old is the teenager? Short of locking them up the mother might not be able to actually get them to comply.

flumposie · 28/11/2020 21:18

No. We had 3 siblings in school who had been sent in even though they were waiting for test results. All 3 were positive. The parents behaviour caused hours of chaos for the school and affected 3 year groups.. Some people are selfish idiots.

PinkiOcelot · 28/11/2020 21:22

God there’s always one moron saying myob!

I would have reported too OP. It’s because of idiots like this that we’re going to be stuck with these bloody rules forever and a day.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/11/2020 21:25

passes op the flame proof suit.

yanbu. but some people will think you are.

school is closed as some numpties came to school while waiting for a test result. I have a child who is hardly in school as keeps coming into contact with positive children. they have done 8 weeks of staying inside without being able to access the outdoors in different spells since March.

ktp100 · 28/11/2020 21:26

Well done you!!

Selfish cunts like this could literally kill someone else's loved ones.

I agree - the fact they’ve tested positive makes it a totally different situation to eg reporting someone with no reason to believe they’re positive for going for a walk with both of their parents instead of just one. YANBU.

Out and about in terms of he's been going on socially distanced walks (which half of MN seem to reckon are essential and it's abusive not to let your child go on one, according to a recent thread) or he's been mixing with friends? If the latter, this could potentially have a huge impact on their school / teachers. So I'd possibly ignore but just tut about the first but report the second (probably to the school rather than police).

Same here. Going out and about when you've actually tested positive is a really shitty thing to do.
Dieffenbachia · 28/11/2020 21:34

As these people are covid positive, good for you for reporting

RayOfSunshine2013 · 28/11/2020 21:35

YABU. I wish I had time to be involved in other peoples business. Maybe they have a family to provide for Angry

hedgehogger1 · 28/11/2020 21:36

@SunflowerButterfly

Considering the tests are 93% inaccurate, as admitted even by Boris himself, and as recently confirmed by a court in Portugal, then YABU. Stop snitching on people and get on with your life. The Stasi paid people to do this, it's pretty depressing in the UK in 2020 the Stasi would find an army of people happy to snitch for them. All for a virus with a 99.8% survival rate too. Utter madness.
