To ask if I’m the weirdo?

Hi all

Just read an article re a teacher in the US who went to the loo whilst on a Zoom call and forgot to turn her video stream off, obviously resulting in all the participants witnessing said trip to the loo.

Majority of comments under the article are people saying that it’s disgusting and they would never take their laptop into the loo with them, let alone go whilst on a call.

I’m not a teacher but have been WFH since early March and will admit to doing this on several occasions (on a long call, haven’t needed to input for a while, desperate for the loo, mute myself and take laptop in with me and balance it on bath edge while I have a quick wee), but not when I’m on video mind.

Anyone else? Or am I the weirdo?

Only on mumsnet could a quick trip to the loo be utterly disgusting 😂 OP didn't you know in MN world if you ever have to use a loo you must immediately bleach your entire body and burn the clothes you are wearing? If you had a laptop with you it needs to be cleansed with flames!

But, no your not the weirdo here, I've done it when I've needed to. If I was in person I'd just step out, but when muted I never feel right interrupting to say I'm going for a wee but equally wouldn't want to go and have someone ask me something when I wasn't there.

The teacher was a bit foolish not to check though...always triple check!

It just to complicated, either holding a phone, or worse a laptop, while getting semi undressed with one hand - although I suppose she may have a commode at her desk.

Hmm think about it, I might get one of those for myself - in the lounge - for when there's a particular riveting storyline in East Enders.

What do you do in a real life meeting then? Take everyone into the loo with you? Just excuse yourself.
