Weds - text from DS1 school saying he has to self isolate. Thurs - same for DS2 AND 3!! Two schools, 3DS. I’m a single mum working 2 jobs. Now stuck home for 14 days homeschooling 3 of them! And wine is not arriving until tomorrow 😬😬 A friend sent me this though - at least I had a laugh...roll on Sainsbury’s delivery... www.maggieandrose.me/post/important-the-mum-s-survival-guide-to-the-14-day-school-self-isolation

It's a joke. Healthy kids stuck at home

They may be healthy. They may not. They may be asymptomatic and a risk to others. They may not. What would you suggest?
CastleOfDoom · 27/11/2020 20:23

At least they're all off at the same time rather than staggered over weeks, I suppose Grin

YuletidePizza · 27/11/2020 20:23

Yanbu, my kids keep getting sent home too. The school then just keep blaming covid for them falling so far behind and the 'catch-up' is non existent. A generation of kids with failed education.

Suchatiredmumny · 27/11/2020 20:29

@CastleOfDoom you have a point! DS1 school today said they might start virtual school the day after they are due back...so that would be it for this year 😷

If students are sent home to isolate, the school should be providing lessons in some other form. If they aren't, you need to ask why.

Suchatiredmumny · 27/11/2020 20:49

Oh they have lessons - my general knowledge has had a right kicking. Today I learnt about Greek mythology, shackleton’s boat, Latin (pluperfect)) and how to create a carol on an electronic organ. That’s in between zooms and before making us all lunch 🤣🤣 can’t wait for the fronted adverbial again

God that's such a smug article. Had child at home, poor husband too important to help, chucked some money at the situation so the school huns don't laugh at me

ladyme · 27/11/2020 20:52

Hope your iso goes smoothly and your child doesn't get ill OP

Diverseduvet · 27/11/2020 20:55

Fronted adverbials, lucky you, you're gonna be having loads of fun.

stovetopespresso · 27/11/2020 20:57

it sounds bats round yours, all of them off??? poor you (good luck).

Suchatiredmumny · 27/11/2020 21:06

Thanks @ladyme I know it could be so much worse and of course I am so thankful we appear to be ok. But yes @stovetopespresso you are not wrong. When I wiped honey off the iPad this morning after they stuck it in their breakfast and did my first work call (screen off!!) in my dressing gown, I did feel a little challenged!

My whole family are home, none of us are ill but I have tested positive for COVID. (Tested because I was isolating from close contact with positive person and was sooo I'll on Monday night but then fine) it is highly likely that at least one other person in my family has it with no symptoms. If I hadn't tested we'd never have known 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm a teacher. I've been beaming myself into my classroom to teach!

Suchatiredmumny · 27/11/2020 21:33

Wow @nevergoingoutagain you’re a hero! You are off ill and still working - you teachers are amazing. The child at DS1 school tested positive after sibling (with symptoms) tested negative - it’s such an unpredictable thing we’re all dealing with

I’m in the same boat! Both kids need to isolate for 14 days, they both have autism and learning difficulties so it has not been easy!

nevergoingoutagain · 28/11/2020 08:22

Ah thanks @Suchatiredmumny don't feel like a hero. My contract finishes Monday so just pushing through! Definitely can't wait for a few weeks off before I start my new job and I don't even care that I'll have a month without income. Absolutely exhausted!

Suchatiredmumny · 28/11/2020 13:04

@EmpressSuiko wishing you so much solidarity - am sure you are doing an amazing job x
