AIBU to think that vaccine snobbery will be a thing?

Pfizer : Waitrose
Moderna : Sainsburys
Oxford : Morrisons

This is absolutely not a light-hearted thread. There's not the slightest hint that I am not totally earnest.

@Mentum

The Winter Collection has been much anticipated, but the Spring and Summer will see new designs. The Sanofis will bring their debonnaire je ne sais quoi to the world, and the Novamax might be just the thing to go with beach sandals

Not sure I follow this. I'd take the Oxford one any day and I'm all about prestige brands. Plus Pfizer coming out of the end of the Trump administration doesn't fill me with any confidence...

Mentum · 26/11/2020 21:04

JANSSEN sounds like it's something you would find next to the Billy bookshelves in IKEA.

Imagine my horror when I discovered it was Belgian!

OP posts:
LolaButt · 26/11/2020 21:07

Ha! I had the same thought OP.

Will some be wanting to pay private for a certain brand? Will any of them be sponsored by a company.... Nike? Ha

TableFlowerss · 26/11/2020 21:13

But the Oxford one is cheaper to make (cheaper to buy) AND it’s much easier to store in a normal fridge.

Imagine the cost of the freezers that would be required to distribute to third world countries.... on top of a more expensive vaccine?....

IMO Oxford takes too spot for all rounder etc ....

RedToothBrush · 26/11/2020 21:17

How the fuck did we get here? Lets make a joke out of which vaccine you get and turn it into a class thing?

Ffs if you are going to go down that route at least do it properly. You have forgotten the obvious script from Hollywood movies about the bad guys who need to reduce population.

Meanwhile people who just want their businesses to be allowed to trade and people who just want to go out for the first time since February without being afraid won't give a fuck about brand and will only care about practicality. The Dacia lovers of this world give two fingers to the entire bullshit of this commercialised crap where everything has to be reduced to fucking image.

Im tired of it. Has the pandemic really not taught us more about what we should value in life?

In fact the single best marketing campaign of all time is the simplist.

Ronseal. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Cos the tone is bollocks and today isnt the day a lot of people are really going to be in the mood for it, if they've just been told T3?

Maybe?

Some reading the room might not go amiss...

Oly4 · 26/11/2020 21:22

There’s no choice in what jab you get but I’m loving this funny thread.
I’ll have any of them as they all beat the 50% target set for effectiveness set by WHO and all protect against serious illness. Can’t wait

Diva66 · 26/11/2020 21:23

I’d rather be a healthy pleb than a dead snob. I’ll take whichever vaccine is offered.

IrritableBitchSyndrome · 26/11/2020 21:25

Pfizer can only go to front line healthcare workers anyway, and those that can travel to one of the very few places with ultra cold storage. For everyone else it'll be Oxford.

Oxyiz · 26/11/2020 21:27

Crikey, sense of humour failure on here tonight.

whiteroseredrose · 26/11/2020 21:40

Interesting. I worked in pharmaceutical marketing back in the day.... and for Pfizer for a while (although not in marketing).

I'm not sure I'd believe the spin about one being 'better' than the other.

I'd be happy with either vaccine.

ChristmasinJune · 26/11/2020 21:49

Will they even tell you? Confused

I now have a mental image of the "classy" vaccines being presented to their lucky recipients.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/11/2020 21:56

Will they even tell you?

Of course they will. You need to know what you've had for various reasons - if you need a second jab, if you have side effects .

laudemio · 26/11/2020 21:56

Morrisons are very good on quality and price.

Heatherjayne1972 · 26/11/2020 21:59

Non of us will get a choice
We will get what we’re given.

If it’s this government’s choice it’ll be the poundshop vaccine

Diva66 · 26/11/2020 22:34

Nope, my sense of humour is fully intact. This thread is even less amusing than a wet weekend in Scunthorpe.
tobee · 26/11/2020 22:37

@laudemio

Morrisons are very good on quality and price.

This is worth bearing in mind.

Osirus · 26/11/2020 22:38

I agree OP 🤣!!

Seriously though, given some of the challenges with the other vaccines (storage and cost), I think the Oxford vaccine will be the one that saves the world.

Alicesweewonders · 26/11/2020 22:40

Yeah, I definitely go for the German vaccine, I mean look at their Cars, ye can't beat the Aul German engineering.

It will be the Audi of all vaccines.

Nothowiexpected · 26/11/2020 22:41

Pfizer is all fur coat and no knickers imo

Wtfdidwedo · 26/11/2020 22:44

I know it's been a shit year but bloody hell, if you can't take a mild joke maybe don't post.
