Nutramigen/neocate

After trialling pepti with no luck, we changed to nutramigen. This made it worse if anything. Spoke to GP today and we start a trial of neocate tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone can tell me if neocate is thicker or thinner than nutramigen? And does it have the same awful taste as nutramigen? X

Neocate is thinner, and tastes/smells different but no nicer than nutramigen unfortunately.

Ok thank you. I think I might get some carobel to thicken it as I think the thinness of the nutramigen made the reflux worse x

It’s a few years ago for us now but I remember it well. I would recommend trialing the neocate without a thickener first as I’ve heard carobel can bring its own problems. Reflux is awful, hope you find a solution soon

Like PP said definitely thinner would recommend putting carobel in. My DD loathed the stuff but it did wonders for her CMPA. Started easing her symptoms literally within 2 days. Good luck OP!

Is neocate an amnio acid one? We had alfamino after nutramigen. It was thinner, and while it didnt taste good, it lacked the really bitter taste of nutramigen. Also didnt stain either (all of ds 3-6 months clothes are trashed from nutramigen vomit despite the vanish spray). Took a while to kick in though, maybe 3-4 weeks for the vomit to stop.

Yes amino acid one. She was on pepti for about 5 weeks but was still screaming during feeds so HV suggested nutramigen and she was so much worse so im hoping an amino acid based one will help. 🤞🏻 x

Nutramigen was the best thing to happen to us. Finally I had a baby who wasn’t screaming day and night.

My DS is Jej fed and has used all you mention ..... Neocate is probably the thickest and the worst smelling. Imagine if you'd left a Bowl of cornflakes sat out in the sun for 3 days!
Easiest product to breakdown though.....
Reflux is hell..... I feel your pain !!!
