To question the NHS letter?

Letter through the door today from NHS regarding a flu vaccine. Says I'm eligible and haven't booked yet need to book ASAP, here is your QR code etc.
I have never had a flu jab and never been told I should have one before. From the NHS website I do not fit any of the categories.
I'm mid 20s, no medical conditions, not living with anyone who is shielding etc
Only thing is I had pregnancy related high BP (but stopped after pregnancy and DS is 1 1/2) and a high BMI?
What has gone on here?

Hmm could it be a mistake? I also had to pregnancy related blood pressure and still have issues with my bp at times now and I’m overweight. Not had one here! Only had the flu jab once - when I was pregnant with DS.

squiddybear · 26/11/2020 19:40

@Bobby28 no idea. I've never been offered it before other than when I was pregnant but didn't get a letter. I'm concerned that there is something on my record that I am not aware of?

I’ve just had a look on the nhs info pages and it says people with a bmi over 40 can have it so maybe that’s why? My bmi is around 35 so
Obese not overweight like I said in my last reply
😮

squiddybear · 26/11/2020 19:42

My BMI isn't that high around 36

I'd give your gp a call and check. If you don't need it fine, if you're eligible may as well get it?

olivesnutsandcheese · 26/11/2020 19:52

Have you ever had glandular fever? They sent some letters out about that recently then said they'd made a mistake

squiddybear · 26/11/2020 19:56

@olivesnutsandcheese nope never

berryhead2013 · 26/11/2020 19:57

It's a nationwide thing everyone is getting offered it so everyone will get a letter regardless
The people who should get it their letters went out ages ago now everyone else is getting theirs
Just get it the NHS needs us to protect them

I had a phone call from my doctors surgery a few weeks ago to offer me a flu jab.

I’m not vulnerable and the only time the NHS has given me a flu vax is when I was pregnant.

DH hasn’t been contacted, I can only surmise they had extra quantities delivered and contacted people who have had the vax in the past as probably more likely to have one again, but that is entirely supposition.

What do you do for a living? A friend of mine got one and was surprised. She's on maternity leave but works in a care home. She's eligible because of her occupation

squiddybear · 26/11/2020 20:00

@Twizbe work in education

I think a BMI of 30 or more is classed as obese, so if yours is 36 that might possibly be the reason. Or it may just be an error. I’d check with the surgery

lockupyourcinammon · 26/11/2020 20:05

A BMI of 36 is obese so that’ll be why

sociallydistained · 26/11/2020 21:03

This happened to us. NHS admitted it was a mistake 🤦🏻‍♀️

You're overweight, have had a previous incidence of high blood pressure (yes, pregnancy related, but the figures are still on your records) and work in a school?

Don't knock the offer. Sounds like the practice is being very proactive in identifying patients they feel are at higher risk.
