To ask if anyone else has had this

I've just been diagnosed with what my doctor thinks is a varicocele. I know this are more common in men but that does seem to be what it is. She's said it's nothing sinister anyway and I've got an ultrasound booking on the way.

Has anyone else had this? It's a bit sore but other than that it was just annoying not knowing what it was. Is surgery likely? Or has anyone managed to shrink it by other means?

I know I should've asked the doctor but you don't think of these things on the spot, and I was just glad it's not a lymph node lump!

Definitely a lot more common in men. !!

Haha. Not in the non-existent scrotum, in the groin. It's right next to where the tendon is. It seems to be quite rare in women which is why I asked here to see if anyone had similar. It always seems to be me that gets the "well we've never seen this before" or ""that's so strange for your age/gender/etc". Not much fun when you want to google for info!
